well im sure you can get it cheap, theres not much going on in the area, there trying to bring it back up,and on the good side, its near the golf course and the DART so i think it would be a good buy.
lol i dont blame you,say ken there was a theatre off of imperial and im guessing vermont?(its wide enough for the old red cars to go north and south both ways),anyways i tried doing a search for it via the zip code but found nothing.can you help?its a church now,and if memory serves me,its like a dark color like blue or green, and its kinda art deco.
i remember sneaking in through the emergency exit to see fight club.i was still in high school and 3 of my friends worked there so it was ok(in my head at least).the house was pretty empty, maybe about 20 in total.but it does it crowded on friday nights.
i remember when they were remodeling it.my mom worked in the office building next door to it and we would go to hamburger habit for lunch.the last movie i saw in the paramount was “the new pippi long stalkings”(i think,i was only 9),after resto i saw a screening of dumbo,we sat in the balcony.now lets hope someone does something like this with the warners/pacific 123!
from my memory it had a fire in the late 90s,early 00s.me and a friend use to catch the bus to his job at the mann on hollywood and we would walk past the sunset alot.i wasnt too impressed.
o ok cool,so the next closet theatre was either the fox stadium or picfair.nicks has great food!but yea that would make since for a local house,i remember when they wanted to tear down the building on the other corner which was a cvc,sav on and now 20 20 video, but they saved it.thanks vokoban
so was this located near overland and pico? i cant think of any other bank of america on pico other than the one near the westside pavillion, which is a stones thrwo away from the picwood.

do you know how many statues were placed around the theatre? i always knew of the gold panning one,and i was happy to hear about the other one that was bought right before the demo by a local neighbor.
if this is the place where i went today, its in shopping center/mall built in the 60s.the theatre is now a antique mall and if you go to the “basement” your pretty much in the front row section of the theatre, the curtain rods are still there with a curve and out in front are the marquee glasses.you can also go up stairs to the projection room(im not sure if it had a balcony or not).when i first went there i thought it was a former supermarket, but that change with entering.ill post pics later this week.
well the royale is a art house, and its competetion is the near by nuart(except on sat nights when the nuart plays rocky horor),so im sure bussiness is as usual.as far as the development of the area, dont forget to take into accout that uni hi was build in that area in 1923.hope this helps you.
ok i know this is about the theatre and not the aud,but just to let some of you know,it took them about 3 years to tare down the remainder of the facade,i remember it well because it scared the sh_t out of me(i was like 8 or 9).i use to have boy scout meetings near by and when i got older i would sneak in the lot where the aud use to be and i would make plans on how to take the art deco lamp post, sadly they even tore thoes down.
from what i can gather aretha franklin once owned the theatre,it was managed by her brother and she mentions it in her book.as for the remodel change,it wasnt a “plane jane” up until maybe 8 to 10 yrs ago.
well fair park is kinda neat to me,im from los angeles and nothing that old beside the collisium is around,i think the designs are great, and the municiple aud is awsome.its funny most MAUDS in tx look alike.
speaking of the starwood, sam cooke was suppose to meet a friend there, but they went over to pjs where he met the hooker who killed him.(sorry for getting off subject but im a huge sam cooke fan)

when i was 13 my parents thought it was a good gift for my birthday to go see a silent movie, well being it my birthday and all me and my friends went to break in to the old picfair theatre (about 2 miles away)which they were about to tare down.i was late coming home and put on punishment,so no silent movie for the birthday boy.well it turns out that that night when we were suppose to go to the silent movies there was a killing where some wacko killed the owner, funny how things work out.
the last movie i saw there was with my dad in his old 65 fairlane, the movie was ghost and it was a double feature,i remember going to sleep right after the credits.but i did get a chance to play on the old swing set, which was really rusty and dangerous.we broke into the theatre in 96 i think, and that was cool.afterward we went to denneys then ice skating.for a while they use to have a swap meet there ,dont think it was sucessful,i was real hurt when they tore it down.that was the last drive in in the area ,stupid people with money i tell you!
well i can say for sure the tower records closed in the late 90s,its now a italian garden.bullocks left in the early 90s…..

there is a cvs,and a nursery there now,a major intersection for a small city pretty much.
