More movies that played on that large screen.
“JUDGE ROY BEAN” rated PG. 02-07-73
04-18-73 very weak sequel to “SUMMER OF ‘42”, “CLASS OF '44” opens rated PG.
05-23-73 “HITLER,THE LAST TEN DAYS” rated PG.
You gotta be kidding me. “OCTOPUSSY” was in 70mm.Wouldn’t have ever believed that when it ranks so low with most 007 fans,I can’t count Connery’s last Bond, not offical 007 series.I just saw some of the other titles and you would think England’s second greatest Export would have at least the Royal Treatment.
I look back at my days and how i would sometime complain to my City Manager about having to Drive about 15 miles to the Imperial to sometimes open it up,after passing two our other ABC THEATRES . Really I was quite lucky to have the keys and work a Downtown Theatre. Joe V. I know you wrote in 2008 about the PARAMOUNT and a reunion, I hope you had one we have been lucky here in Augusta to be able to have several get togethers since 1985, When I thought about putting our first together.
Nick, thanks for the article on my old theatre chain,GCC. Our lobby at REGENCY MALL I,II & III was also very small. So you saw the “THE GROOVE TUBE” that was a very funny ,but the nudity was really guite a bit for most R—rated movies. We actually played it at NATIONAL HILLS of all places and for second run did quite well.11 years of “ROCKY HORROR” the few months we played it at REGENCY MALL the city was about to pull our business license,at least that is what a few local officals wanted.{Story on CT,Regency Mall}. The seats and everything just like GCC. 2010 was not anything like our favorite movie of 1968.I don’t think it did good really anywhere it played, and I know the screens were small at GCC great story.
I thought you might still see the foundation.it has been years but when i do pass it i always look over where the MELODY proudly stood. Thanks, Bob for at least thinking about.I wish locals there knew and cared enough to get on CT.Plenty of stories I know.
I read where Thomson had a classic car day there with classic cars line down main street in front of the Theatre. A smart theatre manager would have had a tie in ,and show a classic movie with a car as the main story line, but no they were playing regular features. No one thinks of promotions much any more.
Nick, how big was the concession. The ART THEATRE concession was about six feet wide. Granted the ART held about 100 folks. Heck, when I worked for Plitt towards the end my butt was in Box office,we had one concession stand girl and our City Manager tore tickets. They we looking at the bottom dollar even then in the late 70’s, but it is business, not a place ,well i won’t go there.
1982 Marquee what a title.Clint EASTWOOD in"Honkeytonk Man" and the other movie “KISS ME GOODBYE” that is the extact quote many EASTWOOD fans said during the first twenty minutes of “HONKEYTONK Man”. That was our Holiday picture and “Uncle” Clint let us down.Me especially.
Most screwed up DOUBLE FEATURE.12-17-71.You can’t make this up.
“SHAFT” and “WHERE’S POPPA?”. Someone plez try and top that one.
I triple that,guys.

To work a 007 Premiere,What a thrill.Great stories.Noticed none of the Bonds were in70mm,not even the epic O.H.M.S.S..
Sean and Kyle when they were 10 and 12 could sneak in the 20 plex all the time, just gotta look like you belong. Saved me some money.
Hey,I know you have that ad somewhere in the hundreds i have sent,If you can’t find “THE BODY SHOP” I found my copy and will make you one.

I can’t believe that happened. A mom and pop theatre most likely wouldn’t pull that trick.

carmike offical called from Georgia,TLSLOEWS.they must still be in Columbus,Ga.
Galen, if you can add more please do.
Man, she didn’t look 107 years old.
Nick, did you see her play? I bet Charlie knew her quite well. I was glad i took the TAMPA tour and heard that wonderful organ.
I can see the “GUESS WHO’S COMING TO DINNER” one sheet on the poster frame clearly. Wish i had it.
Come on SALT LAKE CITY I know someone there can write more about this theatre. I will check in 5 years.
TLSLOEWS where is cinematours is like CT? Nick hasn’t said anything about it.
Oh, Geez TLSLOEWS if i had just a quarter for every time. I could send you and Nick Gift cards for Ruby Tuesday. We had Coke product at ABC/Plitt.
We also had those syrup cans to mess with,They wouldn’t do that either.
I am a Bulldawg fan this in the one theatre of all the theatres on CT you wouldn’t see me in. Yeah, we take football serious here in the South.
Trazadone, Can’t believe they were closed for Cleaning either. they might have been “partying” that goes on a lot in theatres at least in my day.
