Remember Ted Turner bought a six plex in Atlanta and on one screen “GONE WITH THE WIND” ran everyday and of course you had to pay to see it.It just can’t be done when one can buy a classic for almost under ten dollars and not have to drive. That is what killed the late shows i am sure ,even though i got out of business way before VHS hit no sense in booking a good late show when people probably own it.
Small towns i notice tear down theatres for parking.Wilkes Theatre on CT same reason. Today the historical society is sorry they let the Wilkes fall in WASHINGTON,Ga.
Tlsloews.I GOT THEM.Don’t tell Robin I am learning about emails.LOL.
Belle Meade Theatre Looked like the Pepsi-Kelly Buddy Club for all the kids in Augusta. I guess most every town had something like this. Glad you saved some pictures. I bet you wished you saved a few movie ads from your theatres you worked and managed,Or did you and you plan on putting them on,I sent some to Robin and Nick, but so far NOT A THING.
Good for you. You are okay in my book. I know its trespassing, and i would never do it to closed up Circuit City, But movie theatres,I have been real lucky to find an exit door open.
Patsy, there is a theatre in EDGEFIELD,S.C. where i was told by another old theatre dawg that the booth, equipment and everything is still in place. I think a dress shop of all things occupies the main theatre. So I bet a lot of old theatres still have the Booth intact.
Wait just a minute, people stood in lines to see “THE GREAT GATSBY” Heck, we couldn’t give tickets way. Bruce Dern and Robert Redford should have found a western to do. oh, it was NYC.

The screen is built just like the WOODZO DRIVE-IN in Newport,Tenn.only the WOODZO was painted yellow.
Wasn’t this a single screen in 1971?
They were going to tear down the FOX in Atlanta for a office building like New york and Atlanta need another high rise.
Tlsloews, another LOEWS theatre.“INCHON” and “GAME OF DEATH” two stinkers one ripping off GEN.MacAuthur and the other a Bruce Lee mess.
Nick, I found the movie ad if you see this i will be mailing it down when i get to a printer.“THE BODY SHOP”.
It was an adventure going to work in a theatre, great name.
Theatre artist and Augusta native Davis Cone painted this theatre.
Ed Blank,i am working up a history on the Marrah Theatre and Carolina Theatre in North Augusta,Hopefully I will have them on by weekend.

they love tearing down theatres for parking lots.
LOEWS should have had their name taken off that marquee no matter the cost if X-rated films were going in.
“GANDHI” and"LONE WOLF MCQUADE" can only hope the theatres were separted, but you wouldn’t have any cross over with those two films 100% you wouldn’t.
I got your EMAIL.TLSloews.

This Drive-in parked 650 cars and was owned in 1956 by Sero Enterprises.

tILSLOEWS see comment i made on screen partners.I know you will like it. This Drive-in is very very large. And it ain’t in Texas.
You guys had a great Theatre.I am glad to see it remembered so fondly.Great stories.
Once that X rated movie played there i am sure locals had no reason to support it.
