YOU know you love the theatre business when you are on a twenty foot ladder changing movies out in a cold Georgia rain.I did keep a few letters from Columbia 1 and 2 after it closed i got and grabbed what i could before it went to the dump. I could always find an exit door ajar.
Nick, i try and cruise and see what you and TLSloew comment on. Was checking Robin’s theatres, but she’s sorta dropped out.Hope she puts Tlsloews Drive-in pictures on.
Well, when i talked to Hal Holbrook.and I know i have told you this during his Mark Twain show and afterwards we talked a long time back stage and when i asked about movies he had done he really had no idea what I was talking about,And i got to thinking,it is just a job. We fans get caught up in it.You hit your mark and say your lines.Brilliant Actor ,but it wasn’t important to him about being a bad guy in “MAGNUM FORCE”.
Not that it really has anything to do with this, but there is a TAZEWELL,TENN Drive-in on CT.When i saw Tazewell first I thought I had some how missed a theatre, but you are in Tazewell, VA. Wonder how far they are from each other.
Nick, I just saw this May 14,Plez, leave a message on newer posts telling me to go back. I just happen to stumble on it.Did you ask about the real horse head they used in “GODFATHER”
Happy Birthday Beverly. For all the times we would park behind National Hills only to have Chewy or Greg attack my car,Lewis coming in and sitting next to you, holding your hand, Being paged during the movie"Paging DOCTOR MIKE ROGERS",we had a great run. and you were a hell of a woman and sport.
It never really bothered me when people would bring food in. I had enough to worry about on opening night/ weekend. Cans were a problem. Our per cap on customers was never a problem, most folks then, hit the concession.70’s early 80’s.
I thought it might have been released to larger cities and you guys might have been one. I don’t think it played Atlanta. I wanted to book it on a GCC Midnight show.Always stirrin'the pot.
Really, Nick and Charlie {his retired Projectionist friend} they took me and my sons on a day long tour of old theatres. My two daughters swam with Charlie’s family while we went on the adventure of TAMPA,It was great.
I really want to get to the Augusta Archives and list ALL the movies that played at COLUMBIA 1 and 2 while i worked there. Also at the first year of National Hills then ramdom movies that played there while I was there.I gotta get some money cause it ain’t a free service. I bet you guys have one too,Ever think about doing that on some of your old theatres? I see guys doing it all the time with theatres some list every MOVIE for decades!!
In 1956 it parked 350 cars and was owned by Clifford Orr.
I have a L.F.D. Drive-in and Littlefield Drive-in in my Almanac 1956. no XIT Drive-in. Must be a name change.
It parked 500 cars making it the second largest Drive-in in that city. It was owned by H&H THEATRES.
in 1956 it parked 400 cars and was owned by J.B.Beeson.
It was owned in 1956 by Co-Op which ran a lot of drive-ins in that state.
