Dang and I was so hopeful. Thanks for checking it out. Well, I might just as well put me meager plot at Westview on the market and look for a final resting place with a better view.
Really appreciate your research and input. Although I frequent the Atlanta area a couple of times a year, I have yet to have a chance to spend a couple of hours in the main library researching these landmarks. I would love to see photos of the Cascade, the Sylvan, etc. taken during their years of operation.
Thanks for the update. Look forward to your findings. This is about the third address I have come across for the theatre (the other two being 1349 and 1346). Is it possible to you could post your archive photos of the theatre on flickr or a comparable site and include a shortcut here in Cinema Treasures?
I do not know. The architecture of the current structure seems to suggest that it was built in or around the time the theatre was in operation. This one is a mystery.
How was the auditorium originally configured for the Tara? It had a relatively short span as a single screen operation and by the time I got around to patronizing the theatre it had been split down the centre. Was it a modified Cinerama or a large rectangular screen akin to what was originally installed at the Twelve Oaks?
Although I was long gone from Jawa before United Artist moved in, the only Hoyt operations I recall in Atlanta were a ten screen multiplex at the Roswell Mall and the Midtown Eight.
Check out the Franklin Cinema. There is a big community effort underway to get this theatre up and running again as a venue for both live performance and film.

This neat little theatre has been opened and closed rather frequently during the past few years. Hopefully it has found a niche with enough of the permanent residences of the island to sustain it.
The City Directory for Palm Beach County lists two Kettler Theatres, one at 102 Narcissus Avenue South (1925-1930) and the other at 126 Myrtle St (1930-1935?). There is no listing for a Kettler on Celmatis Street.
