I grew up there The Alan and never remember that theater which would go back to the early 60’s. All that was there in the 60’s was the Terminal, Tower and 69th St.
Howard when I looked this theater up a few times on AMC web page it showed they only had 1 or 2 shows daily which is what they did with the AMC Palace in Philly before it closed.
So I am glad to hear they aren’t looking to close it. I wish I would hit Powerball big I would buy the Ziegfeld and this theater.
I only knew Mike Rogers because it was in the local paper.
Also Mike, the info above needs to be corrected, it was taken over by Epic theaters and turned into a discount house after Epic opened the multiplex up the road.
The last time I was in NO was 2003 and the theater was open Labor Day weekend showing movies. I do remember they showed The Godfather, Cabaret and Lady Sings The Blues that weekend. Prior to that it was a club so I am not sure what they used for a screen
The theater is closing. There last day of business will be July 20. There reasoning is because of the mall renovations which is a crock. That mall has been dead for 20 years. They choose not to put any money in this theater for years and went to a discount house in Oct 2010. Very sad as there have been many upset people about this on their Facebook page. They said they are in early negotiations with the mall developer( a new outlet mall)to possibly open a new theater. All I can say to the ownership of this theater is Bah Hum Bug.
All I can say is the SamEric chain should have never sold their theaters to United Artists. They closed almost all of the theaters they purchased in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. UGH
AMC in Florida was always good but I know a company from China bought them a few years ago. The thing I didn’t like is they buy up smaller theater chains then close anything that isn’t a multiplex.
The first in Cinebarre chain they let this theater loose business by not keeping up with the time. They never installed 3-D projection even before the big digital boom which caused them to loose business and covnert to a discount house. Still in operation showing 35mm prints I don’t know how long they will be able to last without going digital. They were given a new lease with the new owners of the mall which are totally gutting it and making it an outlet mall. I hope they will either go digital or get purchased by another chain. The food is great but pricy. They do need to learn how to treat their employees. Wait staff is demoted to tickettaking or busing if they dont' pull in a certain quota of food sales which is rediculous becuase you can’t force people to but food or drinks.

UGH Carmike sucks what a loss. They closed every theater they purchased from Cineplex Odeon in Tampa. Big time loosers

It really concerns me that AMC will close this theater. Does it do well?
There must be a catch. That must be just for the business. I wonder how much the rent is?
Oh nice. What are cinema suites?
Where is Dumbo?
I love it. This theater is part of my childhood. Amen to this organization for renovating this theater and make it alive again.
Thanks Howard.

I am confused moviebuff82, is it not 13 screens anymore? How many are left?
Even before the complex was built, it was always listed as a Regal theater coming. Consolidated was never mentioned even in newspaper articles.
Pardee hospital has purchased the property for their use as a walk in clinic.
ROSS
PLEASE UPDATE THEATER AS CLOSED. THEY CLOSED YESTEERDAY. ALSO SCREENS SHOULD HAVE BEEN 5.

Maybe the Nederlander Organization will purchase it and make a small theater.

Remember seeing this theater on a school trip in the early 70’s.
I give them credit they keep trying to make this theater work
Spartacus was the last film to play here. It closed in the late 60’s.
