If you could copy that and mail it to me i will see it gets to the IMPERIAL THEATRE.I know THEY would love that.THAT is GREAT.I hope somehow you make connection with old friends in Atlanta.Heck, you could go all kinds of reunions. Bill sent me pictures he took. I know he had a great time.
Just heard from Aiken County Theatre Historian,Bill Barkley, that when the Drive-in closed in the late 50’s.He said 1955, that the 35mm projectors were shipped to the MILLER theatre in AUGUSTA .They used them until a platter system was installed in The MILLER.
I liked Chuck Dray alot,I had to find out the hard way about Tom D.. I have just about evrything ready to mail, but the zerox copy of the color picture of the HILLTOP DRIVE-in,didn’t look good so i am going have a color one for you to put on CT and thn you can have copy in color to keep.
Hey,Mark since you live near GASTONIA,did you ever hear the story about the murders at Diane 29 Drive-in in Gastonia? For years I have heard what happen and have the story on the Diane 29 Drive-in site. But never got it confirmed by a local. Or what is true or not about the story.
II have said it before,I honestly thought myself and one or two others were the only ones exploring old Drive-ins and old closed theatres. Boy,was i wrong!
Yeah, I just got to get Robin a better picture of PANTHER, Robin, those are great stories on the HILLTOP; are crying out to be placed on the HILLTOP SITE. I have quite a bit,but i never worked there. The swings you swang on are in EVANS,GA. Tom Dray’s dad as the projectionist there and when hey closed p he took them to his home for his kids.Last time i drove by,the white swings were still upright. If you have any stories from your folks get them on. I know Nick and TSLOEWS are waiting.
I don’t think they would hurt each other money wise because they operated in that town for a long time, and like i said in walking distance there was another Drive-in on that same road. Just can’t remember it .
You know that’s the knd of twin theatre a old theatre guy like me would love to have,However,Winter in that state is another thing. beautiful theatre. I bet the Single screen was great. Everyone just had to TWIN,TWIN, and TWIN in the 70’s.
Well, you certainly missed out on the 70’s fun with late shows. Do you remember at the end of the movie she is walking to the camera and a car in the background is driving backwards down the street. We played “CARRIE” i never watched it except when i had to see the ending to get the exit doors open. I saw it and never could undrstand why the VW bug {ithink}was driving backwards. Well, one spots stuff like this seeing the movie over and over. Like Ned Beatty’s gun holster being on different sides in the movie “SILVER STREAK” Jill Clayberg use to be my movie star girl. Terri Garr TOO!
