I remember playing some of these movies on Late Shows in 1974 and 1975 and even then the prints were not in the best of shape. I guess that is the fun of going to the DRIVE-In.Like NEWT said wish you were closer to GEORGIA.
I would love to have a BOR from one of our Plitt theatres,and wished i’d saved one,but never did. I know how important it is label the backs of photos i always tried to remember to jot theatre names down and years.
My cousin worked for REGAL when they bought out UA.He said they snooped around checking his credit all kinds of crazy stuff. He wouldn’t say it, but I know he hated that KNOXVILLE,TENN,homegrown theatre chain.
RIPSIN, I am working a history on the SKYLAND ARTS CINEMA in Hendersonville.Hopefully, you will be able to comment on this Art theatre which opened when the CAROLINA 1 and 2 were sold for a bank.
MORE MOVIES AND GROSSES…“ACTION IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC” monday it made 120.30 and tuesday it took in 94.70 UNION PACIFIC opened wednesday and made 139.05 and Thursday 90.15.
ARIZONA TRAIL on friday made 169.65 and saturday it pulled in 222.20, This could be box office and concession, have no way of really knowing.

I thought it was much newer but i am 95% sure i saw “WILLARD” and “WHO SLEW AUNTIE RUE” there in the early 70’s. Thanks Jack for getting me here. Sure thought it was built later than 1955.
By bad do you mean what Ray was saying Mold growing everywhere.I saw a few movies there and watching what few films i saw the picture and sound were good as any theatre i had seen movies in.
SMOKEY TRAILS is the last movie to play there before the fire that night.The last Box office take was 220.60. all these figures could iinclude the concession. It was not broken down in the Ledger book i found.
The Dreamland burned and never reopened even though the theatre itself was not torn down for a year.

FRONTIER LAW made on friday 168.40 and saturday 257.40. The last movies to play at the DREAMLAND were MISSING JUROR on momday it made 125.50 and tuesday 99.10 GYPSY WILD on Wednesday it made 130.80 and thursday 117.90.

So don’t feel rushed. THey took your OVERLAND POST and it got moved off to who knows where.Something about the Overton and Davis theatre being the same.

Robin, I just added the DREAMLAND THEATRE in Augusta. I am sure Bill remembers it as a kid.
