Duly Noted and with regards to it’s past, present and future. I have always loved old theatres and there classic design, it really is a shame if this one is lost even given it’s present condition and function although I do not disagree with the function which is being serviced in a different manner these days. History does seem to repeat itself in a circular manner. I have seen the old become new and old again.
Many here view this place as an aging cinema treasure, one that is about to be lost. It has a long, distinguished history before its current incarnation, so except for a couple of random newcomers (no pun intended) we don’t usually discuss the exact nature and activities of its present clientele.
So take a look at some of the older posts on this thread, and then add your impressions of its past, present or future, for the enjoyment of the many people interested in this endangered house.
Mike, Understood and Noted I will remove my post but to be honest it really is a joke if you think about it. All I did was show interest in the theatres future and did not go into specific detail as some of the other posts. The most ironic thing is we are talking about a porno theatre for gay and bisexual old men and my posting is out of line? as I said understood and it will be removed.
thxs Garth….I thought maybe the dimmed lights/almost completely off in the balcony may have been a “slip up” on the part of the guy who works there and walks around but if it was the same when you went then they are keeping the lights off in the balcony (for whatever reason)and was not a mistake…also it seemed the (1) guy who does work there didnt seem to “watch” that much to what was going on(he always caught me in the past and threatened to throw me out—but NOT the last time I was there last week..he seemed to be glad I was there!!..as far as the “TBS” theatre that you mentioned…the day I was there they had the baseball game on in that room. Wondering whom you heard from about the theatre not closing and the sale fell thru..nonetheless good to hear…still the only movie theatre of its kind and I am happy I can still go there for the forseeable future.
over9 I did notice the lighting change in the balcony, and also in the small theater right off the lobby where they usually have TBS showing on the screen.
I’ve never come across such a welcoming and exotic theater.
Thanks for the info Garth…I hope the rumor you heard is correct and the theatre stays open….it is still a good place to go..mind you the “only” place to go of its kind..I also thought the early hours were better than the last hours as far as “a crowd”…it seemed to get quiet after about 6PM the day I went..I will try to go tomw or next weekend..I will try a Saturday next time as opposed to during the week….Did you notice what I meant as far as the “balcony” being more dimmed than before…almost dark the day I went….just curious your observations…
I was there yesterday between 10am and 1pm and there was a good size crowd. The rumor is the deal to sell the theatre fell thru, and it will be open for the forseeable future. Don’t want to make any comments that are inappropriate for this forum.
was there yesterday…was very busy during the afternoon then not so much after 6PM or so….but had a good time nonethe less…it seemed a few things were different from the last time I went: 1.) the lights in the balcony section were dimmed so much that is was almost dark..I believe it was more lit the last time preventing “something from happening up there” but now dimmed so “more” goes on in the balcony section now 2.) and the employee who walks around (there was only 1 there not the usual 2)does not bother you as much and doesnt seem to care what goes on in public (outside of the booths and in the theatre seats) Bottom line: I believe they are letting guys do whatever they want in the closng days/weeks And- There was (1) really great hot Italain boy there last night who liked to “turn” others on just “watching” him do “solo” I had a good time!!!!!
I also went there last night. Not bad.I had a good time…and I was lucky to see that hot Italian boy there who “strips” for the pleasure of others. Most of the time the employees who work there stop him in action but last night they left him alone. Hot exhibitionist guy with tremendous d—k who strips in front of an audience on the stage below the screen in the “upstairs” theatre where the balcony use to be in the old Jewel theatre days. He had the biggest audience I ever saw him have watching him. Will surely miss him when this place closes!!!! Anyone remember him???? Or know where else he goes to do his “thing”
I was there yesterday. The rumour is it will be open until June or July, but an employee could not confirm this.
The long goodbye.
Yes they are still open. You can call the Box Office: 718.339.1800 to confirm.
Are they still opened?
Thanks Over9. I remember him, even had the pleasure of sampling that huge d—k. I plan on going to theater one last time later today. Do they still allow crossdressers ?
Havent been at this theatre in a while. Always had a good time in the “glory” days. Does anyone remember this young guy who always “showed off” to the patrons and a crowd would form around him to watch and he would get everybody off…he even useto go to the upstairs theatre (what useto be the balcony in the old Jewel theatre days) and strip on the stage (mostly down to his white briefs) while patrons would watch him. I just recently saw him again at this theatre for what maybe his last time. What a hot guy!!!What a huge d—k!
Patrons now say it will be out of business by the end of the month. Employees are saying June, but the audience flow is down to a trickle. Maybe not even covering operating costs.
Thanks……I will visit over weekend. Need to cruise in heels one more time.
I stopped in today, one of the regulars told me it has been sold and they expect to close the deal in July at the latest. So unless the deal falls through it will be curtains by this summer.
Thanks Mike……
The number is 718-339-1800 and the guy on the phone said it has been sold and will be closing, but no date has been announced yet.
Might be listed as CKH Theatre, as on this web page, which gives a number (I haven’t tried it to see if it works.)
Information has no listing for this theater.
They answered the phone this morning, and said they are open.
Thank-You, I was thinking of going this afternoon.
