This Theatre was in the process of being converted into a club a little while back.. Went by about a month ago (Around May 2009) to see that the club did not make it. Or at least it doesn’t look like it made it. It was closed up. I have some photos of when it was being converted into a club back in 2007. I was allowed to go inside for a few photos! Opened in the Early 1960’s, the Big Town (Cinema) Theatre, along with the Mall, was demolished in 2006. The only building left standing is the Bowling Alley. My Photos of the Theatre can be seen here:.. http://tinyurl.com/lktoor … A few photos of the Mall can also be seen here:.. http://tinyurl.com/mv56kt …

The Gemini Twin Drive In opened as a Twin. A Third Screen was added behind the North Screen in latter years. I took one photo, while driving South on Central, not long before it was demolished. You can make out the North Screen with the added screen behind it. The Added screen, from what I remember, faced Central. It was a 3 Screen Drive In before it closed. As alot of the Drive In Theatres in the area, it was owned by the McClendon Family….. Sure wish I had went back to get more photos of this one!

The City-Place building is right across the street from the Theatre. Not sure if 7-11 is still in the City-Place building tho.. (?)..
Very nice looking building to demolish so soon. Only 12 years old. Opened December 22 1995. (Per cinematour.com)

Went by this Theatre about a Month ago. I was told that the City of Grand Prairie has either taken it over or bought it. It will be renovated into a Live Theatre type venue. Hopefully, they’ll keep the Marquee intact! I’m Glad to see at least, something is being done to save it instead of Demolishing it!!
Way to GO Grand Prairie!! I took a few photos of this theatre just before the City blocked off the Entrance of the Theatre with Plywood. To view them, click here:.. View link …

Went By the Fort Worth Twin today (5-5-07) and they are setting up to start drilling for Natural Gas. I ask one of the workers if he had heard if they were going to remove the screens and he said he had not heard of anything like that. (As of Today)….
