0ne of the most elegant of Seattle’s many theatres. A gilded swan of theatre design. Later the large stage was bricked in solid to just show movies. I once saw Goldfinger in this fantastic place. Replaced by modern developement but never forgotten and very much missed. Like tearing down the Roman Coliseum.
This is great they saved this wonderful building. There was once a similar theatre in Seattle for years with the same screen and systems and they made it a weedfilled lot and now it is another huge generic highrise in a city rapidly loosing it soul and history. The screen in this 150 degree system is almost as awesome as Cinerama or Imax. The Cinerama theatre still exists in Seattle and has been updated and improved many times and just recently again. One of the most technically advanced theatres in the world. Was built around 1962 or 1963.
I saw many films at The Princess Theatre. I believe it had a lovely curtain that was used to open the film. The original lighting is still in use and wall structural columns. The original marquee is long gone and replaced by a very small one and plain signage. I always thought that the auditorium cried out for murals on the walls and nicer ceiling decoration and lighting. A theatre this vintage still in use and now digital is a treasure for the Pacific Northwest. Cheers!
Great proscenium and detailed vintage curtain. Also lighting and molding trim. Glad it is stil going strong.
The best marquee! Looks like the theatre is still open. New movies. Love the lettering and neon and lights.
Looks to be very old and historic. Would like to see images of interior.
Very sad and a waste of a well design building. Must have been lovely inside too.
Beautiful art deco trim and curtain design is great too. Nice proscenium. Big place.
A lovely classic colonial style building. Wonderful it is still operational and now digital.
A classic gothic brick and handsome building with a rich history. Glad it is being restored and not torn down.
