I did just notice a miswtake on my list. The weeklong matinbee engagement of Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory that started 9-1-71 played by itself, not with Charlotte’s Web.
Asx to the above comment, while I can’t comment on whether it had 70mm equipment, that 72 foot screen size is a joke. I saw a double feature of BUTCH CASSIDY and HEARTBREAK KID in the summer of 1974, and the screen was more like 35 feet or so wide, with scope opened up.

The name switch to the Paris happened on June 28, 1963, showing “nudie” films (The Virginia had been periodically booking these films anyway). They reverted back to third-run product at 50cents on March 4, 1964. On August 12 it was back to the nudie cuties.
The Cinema 19 name debuted on August 11, 1967, when it became an “arthouse” cinema, booking such gems as Le Bonheur, Juliet of the Spirits, Umbreallas of Cherbourg, Loves of a Blonde, A Taste of Honey, and A Man and a Woman. But policy shortly reverted back to soft, then eventually, hard porn.
BTW, the above 1968 date given for the LAPL photo is actually from 1969, as the marquee attraction THE SHOES OF THE FISHERMAN played its first-run engagement from February 26-March 19, 1969.
Two of the four celing lamps described above were sold to the Bakersfield Community Theatre when the theatre was twinned in 1976 and to this day hang in the live theatre’s ceiling (they actually bought all four but trashed two of them).

Statewide’s Cinema Valley Plaza had its Gala opening on Tuesday, September 19, with a special benefit (for the Boy’s Club) premiere of HAWAII. The theatre opened with 1,030 seats, 200 less then planned due to a strike at the manufacturing plant. It would take another couple of months before the open spaces in the auditorium would be filled with the remaining seats. Shouldn’t this theatre be listed under the name DeAnza Drive-In? That was the last name the Drive-in was called, and i thought that’s how things were listed.
quote: When the Alhambra in San Francisco was de-twinned, and restored to its original condition, the curtain was not closed as well. I asked why to the Management of both. It was interesting of the responses I received. The Alhambra Manager replied, “closing the curtain went out with Mickey Mouse”
What an odd explanation. Because when the Alhambra in SF was twinned it actually HAD waterfall red velvet curtains on both sides of the twinned theatre…and they were still working, at least in 1976.

Here is a picture of them originally inside the Nile Theatre when it opened in 1938:

Thanks, Mike. My handwritten notes DID show the correct date, but I was making some typing mistakes, and obviously didn’t catch them all.
That SHOULD be 4/25/69. I wish this had editing features. Grrr.
For the 4/25/61: n/a notation, the double feature was A Man For All Seasons; Taming of the Shrew.
Notes: If in ( ) on the same line, shown in addition to regular program. If ( ) on seperate line, is shown same day as regular attraction, but a seperately priced program. Advertised titled shorts are listed, but theatre also showed cartoon and newsreel with most programs as well.

Statewide’s Cinema Valley Plaza had its Gala opening on Tuesday, September 19, with a special benefit (for the Boy’s Club) premiere of HAWAII.
Jack Nicholson walks past this theatre in the movie “5 Easy Pieces”
