On the 21st Century Cinemas website this evening (May 1,2007) it states there will be no show for the weekend of May 4th-May 6th at the Heart Theater. Anyone have a clue or has knowledge as to what is going on when it comes to the Heart Theater? This will make the second weekend in a row that the Heart Theater will remain close. Is this a temporary closing or a permanent closing for the Heart Theater?
Patsy: I don’t understand 21st Century Cinemas reason for not trying to maintain a regular schedule to show movies at the Heart Theater. Beside confusing customers who would attend the Heart Theater as to whether the theater is open or is close. I would also think it would make it harder to sell the theater. Which was stated in an article in a newspaper when the Theater was reopen after being closed for a month, was the intent of the owner of the Theater. On thursday night I notice that 21st Century Cinemas had added Midway Drive-In (Sterling, Illinois)to the list of theaters that they operate.
This morning on the 21st Century Cinemas website for the Heart Theater, it was written no shows this weekend, thanks for your business. I don’t know if that means that the Heart Theater is closed once again or just a temporary closing.
unless there was two Grand Theatres in Terre Haute, the address shown for this Grand Theare is incorrect. I grew up watching movies at the Grand Theatre on Wabash Avenue. I was born the last part of 1950.
When I was growing up this was known as the Grand Theatre. I attended several movies at this theatre, one being Gone With The Wind. I don’t remember this theatre being called Liberty Theatre. Toward the end of this theatre’s life, adult movies were shown.
On the 21st Century Cinema Website, it states this theater is closed till further notice. No explantion was given on the website as to why the theater closed so quickly after being closed for a month or the fate of the theater.
The Heart Theater is now listed on the 21st Century Cinemas website with more showing times than it was prior to closing. The movie listed as showing at the Heart Theater (Charlotte’s Web) is different than the one listed in the newspaper article to be shown when the Theater reopen.
This is good news if this is correct information. The Heart Theater Website still shows the last movies showing at the theater being on December 24, 2006. If the theater has reopen, it must not have a website or is listed under a different name.
I grew up with this theater. I can remember back when there were two movie theaters in downtown Terre Haute. This theater & the Grand Theater. This was before there were shopping malls at Terre Haute. Years ago the Indiana show first run movies with a news reel shown between shows. The theater was full every time my parents & I were attending a show. Back when they didn’t care if you brought food into the theater. We would buy sandwiches at one of the dime stores, then eat our lunch in the theater while watching a movie on the big screen. It’s worth the admission price, just to see the inside of this theater. Even if the movie that is showing stinks, you don’t feel like you have been cheated. They are some live shows & concerts held here with the screen raised for these events.
I think this theater is close. The Heart Theater website shows the last movie showing at this theater being on December 24, 2006. Facing The Giants was shown at 2:00 p.m. & a free showing of It’s A Wonderful Life at 4:30 p.m.
