If the original building still exists, it’s an Aamco shop. The address of the building is 4665. The next building over is a liquor store, which is 4671.
Here is a 1924 photo. I saw C. Sharpe Minor mentioned in an article about an LA theater in the 1920s. Either he got around or that was a popular alias at the time. http://tinyurl.com/396bao
Here are some photos I took today. Before the jokes start, it should be noted that I pulled into the lot, took the pictures and drove away. I did scare away a business-type guy who was sitting in his car. He probably thought I was a divorce lawyer. http://tinyurl.com/2l5sjk http://tinyurl.com/2q8l5y http://tinyurl.com/3djoco

I stopped by there today. The stage is there but the seats have been removed. They were setting up tables for a wedding reception. I took some interior photos, but my flash was too weak. Here are the rest:

OK, thanks.
I’m not sure. I didn’t have any information to show that it was still standing, either. If I can get out there I will take a look.
Everything on this side of the block between the cathedral and 3rd Street has been bulldozed.
Florence should be an aka.

Nobody ever got back to me on the “S” theater I mentioned on 8/12/07. I’m still curious.

I don’t remember this one. I wonder how long the Franks operated it.
You’re welcome, Bill. You can easily go inside and walk around as long as you don’t start taking pictures. Then you get chased out.
Hard ticket?
An intermittently reliable source states that J.J. Frankenfelder designed the Plaza in 1926. This is unconfirmed, however.
