There used to be a restaurant called Zaberer’s, out on the Black Horse Pike, that would loan you a suit jacket if you didn’t bring one to wear. The days when people would dress up to eat out or walk on the boardwalk are long gone.
This photo may have been taken sometime in the 1960s. I can’t decipher the films that were being advertised. The Shell station preceded the Chevron station in the post immediately above. As you can see, the Vashon was then the Island Theater, so that should be an aka: http://tinyurl.com/3y3ory
Here is a 1955 view of Main Street in Sheridan. The Wyo marquee is behind the Lotus Cafe sign. On the marquee, the two films are “This Island Earth” and “Tarzan’s Hidden Jungle”: http://tinyurl.com/2vae6s
In 1963, the Otsego was operated by the Sun Theatre Company of Plainwell, Michigan. This company also ran the Sun in Grand Ledge and the Sun and 131 Drive-In theaters in Plainwell.

It fits into the cinema category because it was used as a movie theater before it became a performing arts center.

The Harnett site was working yesterday. I put it in as a related site, but I guess the editor couldn’t get it to load either and left it out.

I met John Waters in 1983 after a screening of “Pink Flamingos”. That was at the TLA Theater in Philadelphia. He’s an interesting guy.
