This is from the Warsaw History organizations minutes of 11/13/07. They mean “marquees” instead of marquis, obviously, unless they’re going to have some noblemen stand around with billboards:
WARSAW CINEMA. Discussed Paul Penner’s possible purchase of the Warsaw Cinema. He intends to renovate for live performances and movies. The cinema renovations are expected to be completed by September of 08. Mr. Penner, however, has enthusiastically given permission to allow the July HWA festival to be advertised on the theater’s marquis.
I never made it to that neighborhood when I was a kid, although my father lived around there when he was younger. My grandmother lived on West Queen Lane, so usually we took East River Drive up to Midvale and then over to her apartment building.
Understood. My mistake.
Eu errei de bairro. I made a mistake with the neighborhood. Obrigado.
Thanks.
Correct.
Don, is Royce Blankenship any relation to Wallace Blankenship?
And the owner.
Charles, I was referring to the Gayety, not the Eastown. Sorry if I wasn’t clear.
Thanks to both. Status should be closed.
Isn’t there a racetrack in this town called Ruidoso Downs? I vaguely remember that name from my past days as a horseplayer.
Does anybody know if this theater ever showed films? I’ve been looking for a listing here on CT, but no luck:

This drive-in was part of the March Brothers circuit in the early 1960s, headquartered in Vermillion, South Dakota.
There was a March Brothers theater circuit, headquartered in Vermillion, in the 1960s. Perhaps that had something to do with the name of this theater.

That’s true. I hadn’t considered that.
This was a Kerasotes theater in the early Sixties.
I can’t come up with any showtimes on the internet. It looks like the theater is closed, at least for now.

If anyone has a cross street or the name of the church, let me know. I may be in that area in a few months. Thanks.
