Chuck1231, of all places, on Facebook, i read locals talking about the Gospel Drive-in In Augusta,And i thought i knew every theatre in town, know this sorta off topic, but figured the only way to reach you.
the picture now on today Aug,28 2011 is the MASTERS in Augusta. Before it was remodeled when the extra screens were added the MASTERS 4 was pretty much a very unimpressive looking theatre, white in color i think.box office was moved from the side to front,Still for a dollar theatre it is very clean and no riff-raft hanging around.
Part what liked about the theatre business when i was in was Friday moring coming in seeing those film cans waiting to go.bothering the projectionist for a clip or two.now it is on a disc, now you can’t look at frames of movies, now they call that modern and the wave of the future, glad I got out in 1983.
Talked to my cousin, Ray. He is suppose to be getting up stories on this Drive-in and the other theatres in town, can’t wait to get them on,all the old employees meet every wednesday for a get together at dinner, none are on line and don not mess with computers and such, so hope he can write down the stories.
What is the big deal, how many screens do they have, often they will build some monster looking 20 plex that closes everything in medium sized cities,i am sure they could care less in Knoxville,Tenn.
one day i will see barry lyndon…..
Checked with one person that knew,it was a 16mm set-up,didn’t have a lot of that for drive-ins i bet.
Great article.guys.
