I saw “Outland” and “Altered States” at these theater, also Raiders of the Lost Ark when it first came out. Lots of good memories. Here is a photo from the early eighties: http://tinyurl.com/29ntff
If you look at some of the entries for the downtown theaters, including the Main, Banner and others, you will see quite a few references to Gore theaters at the beginning of the twentieth century.
I took a walk around the building today. There’s a huge graffiti-style mural on the back wall. I couldn’t tell if this was sponsored or just vandalism.
I remember reading about Lash LaRue in one of those “Whatever Became Of?” books back in the eighties. It looks like he passed away in 1996. Happy trials, Lash.
Thanks for digging up the address. This photo of the Sharum, such as it is, was recently sold on eBay. Depending on the date the photo was taken, I’m wondering if the building is actually still standing, asopposed to demolished: http://tinyurl.com/2vpr5j
I see a lot of articles on the internet about the revival of this stretch of South Street. If anyone knows of any recent renovation efforts for the Royal, let me know. Thanks.

Rest in peace.
Merry Christmas to all.
The exterior is rather plain. I didn’t realize that this was a former theater when I saw it today.
It was actually sunny today in Olympia. I managed to take some pictures without getting soaked. The State is a block away from the Capitol.

I agree.
Trails, that is.

Unfortunately the photo wasn’t dated, but it seems contemporary. I agree that the the status is most likely closed instead of closed/demolished.
