How much is the organ used during the Christmas show now? From the various youtube videos, it appears only to be used before the show starts, but no longer during the Nativity scene. Any intermissions between set and scene changes or the exit music?

Any new changes to the xmas show from last year? I haven’t been to it since 2001-2002.

I also have confidence in Ron Bishop. Most people have no idea how many things can go wrong with a pipe organ. The 4/58 has over 4,000 pipes. Not counting all the toys it has. Most of the time you would find a small problem, like one or two pipes not speaking. But, for the entire instrument not to play (I can only guess) it was probably a main electrical problem. Then getting the part or parts and installing them. At least those things can be got at a supply house near-by.

I spoke with my boss Ron Bishop today who assured me the organ is in good shape& will be part of the Christmas spectacular right thru Dec.30th, I have total confidence in my old bosses the Bishops, they really love that old Wurlitzer possibly more than I do, I hate it that i’m not able to get back to work therebut, I totally have confidence in my old boss!!!

While the Beacon is an excellent alternative to Radio City for the Tony’s I can’t help but be disappointed that they didn’t follow through with the original plan to host the Tony’s at the Loew’s 175th Street Theatre.

There is a maintenence contract with Bishop Pipe Organ that is renewed every year for upkeep on the Organ. In addition to the annual maintenence contract, there was a large “update” done in March of this year. The contract is not cheap, the Bishops do a great job and the organ has not been and never will be neglected.
It is one organ – two consoles

The cirque show , unnamed until this week – Zarkana, is suypposed be a 1930’s circus theme" but no one is sure what that means.

I was at that Ringo birthday show. When Paul came out unexpectedly from stage left, the audience made a sound like a jet plane landing. I guess it was like being in the audience of the Ed Sullivan Show when the Beatles appeared back in 1964.

Also on that stage were Yoko Ono, and George’s widow Olivia and son Dhani, so all four Beatles were represented.

On 7/7/2010 Paul McCartney performed with Ringo Starr and his all Starr Band to celebrate Ringos 70th. birthday at the RCMH.Clips of this show can be seen on youtube. He sang the Beatles song Birthday, along with Ringo, Joe Walsh, Rick Derringer, Edgar Winter, and others.By the way Joe Walsh is Ringos brother-in-law, he is married to Ringos wifes sister.

Maybe it’ll be the Beatles edition of Cirque Du Soleil, called “Love”, which up to now has only been shown in Las Vegas? Sure hope so.

Re: the Wurlitzer 4/58. I am sure that getting parts is not the problem. I’ll bet that funding for the parts is. Mr. Bishop can only do so much. There comes a time that one must spend some money for maintenance on something so large and complex as that. Also there are a few things that if any one thing goes out, the organ will not play. I am sure that Mr. Bishop will find and fix the problem. I just hope that the organist still gets paid.

Looks like age has finally caught up with the organs. The organs have been inoperable since Sunday. They have been working on them, but may not have them for at least the next few days, if not more. I can’t imagine it being easy to get parts for them.

there are many promo codes for cheap seat s 49MSG for $49 orch seat to many shows. I think the ecomony is why sales are “soft”.

WOW 7000 watts, I wouldn’t wanna be anywhere near that
if it blew, KABOOM!
Seriously though, It is very nice to know that you folks are continuing the great tradition of the Hall in making the presentation as fabulous as it can be.

We bought a new set of polarizing gels for the 3-D. Both port windows have them. They were a better quality than the old ones. They seem to work better at blocking the light. The lens on the second machine had focus issues last year. We took it apart and replaced some of the elements and that fixed the problem. We also tried a different company for the 7000Watt lamps this year. These lamps are supposed to work better with the extreme angle of the projectors. So far they definitely do.
