I have heard that their association with the town is minimal as of today. The residents are disappointed as they expected a lot more out of the Willises.
Here is an August 2005 article. The translation is a little rough. The author seems to have a particular dislike of Michael Bay, for unknown reasons: http://tinyurl.com/yt9ret
The Waikiki Center still has the memorabilia lining the walls on either side of the escalator. On the second floor are large exterior and interior photos as well.
The theater block is at the intersection where Kuhio runs into Kualakua. A Niketown store is the primary tenant of the current building. This area has a mile of upscale stores including Tiffany, Gucci, Prada and so on.
This is a good hike from the hotel district. We either roasted in the sun or got pelted by rain along the way. The weather changes every five minutes or so. I will post the pictures later.

I only saw this building when it was the Bank of Leumi. I didn’t know it was a theater until I started hanging out here.
If you’re just looking at the marquee, I would say art deco. I guess we would need a view of the rest of the theater as well.

Chuck, I meant to ask if you had a location for this theater. Unfortunately, I’m leaving tomorrow morning. Maybe next time.

Xanadu? Maybe you should have asked for a break on the rental charge.

I agree. Kind of a moot point as the new theater now has its own page. I will miss walking by the Linda Lea with its distinctive marquee, though.
This is a beautiful theater. I took some pictures today which I will post later.
I took some pictures today. Lots of graffiti, dicey neighborhood. I don’t see much of a future for this building.
I saw the Varsity on the way in from the airport. I will try to get over there and take some pictures.
