PLEASE CHANGE ADDRESS TO:

D STREET & 6TH STREET

600 block of D street brings up the Southern United States and Central America on the Google Map, not very helpful.

The theater is on the Southwest Corner. If you bring up the street photo you can see the “projection room, which juts out overhead”.

Open 1935-1950?

PLEASE CHANGE ADDRESS TO:

COASTAL HIGHWAY & MELSON ROAD

Old address, 29 Midway Shopping Center, Highway One, on the Google Map, shows the southern United States and Central America, not very helpful. With the new address the theater is straight east of the red dot, it is the building with the white roof.

ATTENTION U.S. ARMY, MARINE CORPS, NAVY, AIR FORCE, COAST GUARD, VETERANS AND DEPENDNTS, HELP!

This is only number 3 of 135 operating U.S. Army & Air Force Exchange Service, Reel Time Theaters (check out CHAIN in the header and see it grow) I hope to list on Cinema Treasures. It WON’T hurt my feelings if you add some. This does not include U.S. Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard Theaters that are operating. That also does not include theaters that are closed or demolished on operating or closed U.S. Militay Installations. It must be THOUUSANDS OF THEATERS! I should add, as some of you know, some of these theaters are very nice buildings.

PLEASE HELP ME AND ADD THEATERS YOU KNOW ABOUT AND ADD COMMENTS AND PHOTOS, REMEMBER THE GENERAL PUBLIC CAN’T HELP US ON THESE SPECIAL THEATERS!

If you click on the map the theater is East of the Red Dot with parking lots around it.

Mike; With all the time I’ve spent in Hawaii I still have trouble with Hawaiian words. I think it’s because it only uses 12 letters in it’s alphabet and seems to use a lot of vowels.

Ret. AKC (NAC) CCC Bob Jensen, Manteno, Illinois commented about Cathedral on Aug 14, 2010 at 11:38 pm

1st Floor 918
1st Balcony 1,026
2nd Balcony 890

About the organ, somethings rotten in Denmark and Mathies Moller was born in Denmark!

I know the info on the organ came from the info provided by the Cathedral. I’m not a great expert on pipe organs but, the console is the framework containing the keyboards, stops, pedals, and other controls of the organ. I have never known of a pipe organ that had 4 consoles. That would mean it would need 4 organists. A few organs have had 2 consoles. I sure what was meant was that it had 4 keyboards or what are called, 4 manuals.

I have never heard of a Mueller Organ. I have heard of Margaret and John Mueller who are organist, but that dosen’t count.
There was a Muller Organ in the Netherlands around 1735, so I don’t think that counts.
What makes the most sense is Mathias Moller’s, Moller Pipe Organ Company of Hagerstown, Maryland (just south of the Pennsylvania border) which went into business in 1875 and made something like 11,000 pipe organs. I could find no record in old organ records of an organ ever being installed, but that would have been about 85 years ago. I would guess because of financial problems back then it was either reposssed or sold. I bet it’s no longer in the theater, but I hope it is. What do you think?

Anyone have more info, more info on the organ, or more photos?

I did forget to say more on topic, I thought the building was going to look much nicer as a Mosque then it ever did as a theater.
