This is still the Salvation Army store. Walking in you can tell where the former balcony is. How much of the balcony is intact, though, I am unsure of because I did not go upstairs.
It is a 3/15 Marr & Colton organ. It was originally installed at the Palace Theatre in Danbury, but was removed in 1967. It was installed in the Opera House in 1971. The organ’s history can be seen at http://theatreorgans.com/cvtos/#organs
The Allyn closed in October 1969. The organ is now installed at Shelton high School in Shelton, Conn. This organ’s history can be viewed at http://theatreorgans.com/cvtos/#organs
The status should be closed/demolished. It was turned into a golf driving range which later closed as well. There was a rumor last spring that someone was planning to turn this back into a drive-in, but apparently that rumor was unfounded.
It has not been refurbished since it opened many years ago. When Crown took over from Hoyts last year they did nothing other than paint the walls of the lobby.
Anyone know how the renovations are progressing?
My photos from 2 years ago are at http://www.cinematour.com/tour.php?db=us&id=22467

The Broadway opened in 1914 and closed in 1965.
The Cameo is not demolished. A video store is in the space where it’s lobby used to be. i’m not sure what occupies the space that Sears took over.
It was also known as the Royal Theatre.
The organ is now in Knoxville, TN.

That organ is currently in a museum in Jackson, Louisiana.

According to CinemaTour the Gold Theatre was at 176 Sand St. in Buffalo.
It was on the corner of Green & Main, and opened prior to 1920. Information about a lawsuit involving the theatre can be found at View link
The theatre building is for sale on eBay at View link
There’s still quite a few unlisted Connecticut theatres. See CinemaTour for a complete listing of all that I know.
It was moved from somewhere else. I’ll ask the Opera House’s director next time I see him where it came from.
It isn’t too “historic.” It’s a typical, ugly shopping plaza cinema.
The concession stand and marquee both still remain.

Should be listed as demolished.
Condos have been proposed for this site.

I believe it WAS the Monomoy.
What condition is it in right now? Is there any estimate of how much it would cost to renovate?
Which movie house is this? The Park Hill?
