I didn’t see her protest the St. John’s development, the hospital development, or the convention center/hotel, which has more variances that Carter’s has pills! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I just got back a little while ago from a hunting trip, and my wife is frantic!! An anti-theatre person threatened to come over to our house with her husband and son to “talk” to us. My poor wife was afraid to leave the house all weekend…And my kids—we won’t even get into that!! I am accused of being “childish” or “insane”, then look at this crap that’s on here, what a joke!!
As far as the Theatre, I have been working for the theatre longer than a lot of people around here. I have been in or under almost all of the theatre. I have hung off ladders hanging wreaths, swept floors, cleaned up projectors, ran a dunk tank, written letters and a great deal more. My point of contention currently with the some of the Friends comes from an idea that many on the Friends thought was a good one and they were more than willing to help with. The idea that was brought up was to do a petition drive of REGISTERED VOTERS IN LOMBARD. Although it would not have been binding, it would have gone a long way to show the support behind the Theatre. It would have also helped out in the lawsuits currently in the judicial system. Certian members of the Friends were decidely against the project, virtually from the very mention of it. What was their plan? Really, none that was too ovbious. Now, we have seen the inneundos thrown at Board meetings and in the media, and statements of vast support, but no numbers to back it up, other than time wasted getting signatures from anyone on petitions. Now some members are talking to those against the theatre. These same people that circulated purple flyers chock full of half-truths designed to scare people, the same ones that had a “victory party” when the vote came to demolish, the same ones who have been for demolition since the day the Village took poession of the theatre.
You see, they know the fact that most citizens of Lombard are only concerned about their property taxes rising, and those against the project know that as well! By telling people that tax dollars are going to be used, and property taxes will rise if the theatre is allowed to proceed, that’s enough to scare people out of supporting the project. Some of these same people are pushing for a library at the theatre’s location. They refuse to tell people it will require a significant increase in property taxes. That’s a perfect example of their M.O. Very few people even try to dispute their statements, but I am more than willing to do so. I often see posts by these people that go unchecked for days on end, and I can’t stand knowing that people are reading their garbage and possibly believing it!
Look at who is saying this board should be shut down…the anti-theatre minions. Whay is that? Because they don’t want; 1. Any more support from “outside” to the project (including $$)2. A website that they could not control and censor, unlike their own… That’s really it! I, and others post on here to present the ACTUAL TRUTH around here…
