I was wondering when this one would show up.
Not a great theater… barely a good one… but I did see PULP FICTION on its opening night here!
Any one know when it closed?

Does anyone know where it played in the Seattle / Tacoma area?
I don’t think it was the Cinerama or the UA 150/70.
Was it at the SouthCenter?

Actually, Che is going to get a release. I think Magnolia picked up the rights.
It’s even going to play “roadshow” style with Intermission at the Zieg and the Landmark in Los Angeles.

I didn’t see Die Hard until it came to video.
But I made sure to see every entry thereafter in the theater…
I did finally see an actual print at UCLA with DP Jan de Bont in 1994.

Pack,

Bad Call.

There was a line at the AVCO for The World is Not Enough in 1999. Opening night, though.

Apparently the Cinerama is playing Superman 1978 in 70mm this weekend.

The Arclight could learn a thing or two from their Seattle brethren.

Tower was definitely on Westwood through the 1990s- about the middle of the first block south of the UCLA campus (Westwood and Le Conte[?]). They had something called the “Classical Annex” a door or two down but that was gone by 1995.
Glendon was a block east of Westwood, but Tower did have an entrance on Glendon, behind the Plaza.

Since I just watched ‘Richard Pryor, Live on the Sunset Strip’ I thought I’d point out that the Dome has a quick cameo in the opening seconds.
‘Ghost Story’ is on the marquee.

Colin,

Anyway you scan those schedules in and post a link here?

Old rep calendars are so much fun.

I drove up from San Diego to see 2001 and, the gaffes aside, I’d do it again.
The clicking was a bit annoying but I blame the print and not the theater.
If only the Dome could play some more 70mm movies (Patton, Dr Zhivago, Wild Bunch, Empire Strikes Back [yeah, I know]…) the world would be a better place.

The Grand Opening was on 24 May 1945. Admission was the purchase of a $100 War Bond.
The opening attraction was ‘Diamond Horseshoes’ starring Betty Grable.

A more accurate location for the theater would be between B and C Streets on 4th Avenue (the current building would have an address of 1127 4th Ave across from the California)).
John C. Fisher is credited as building this theater but whether he was the architect or contractor is undetermined. As an aside, as it was built for theatrical events, it was built without dressing rooms.

Apparently Louis J. Wilde was responsible for building the Pickwick.
Later he became mayor of San Diego.
