I am planning a trip to London and Scotland next summer. I’m wondering if a side trip to Wales would be a significant detour, and if the sights are worth making the side trip. Any advice would be appreciated.
This is from the Montana Standard, 10/13/39. We believe this to be the Highland:
SMELTER CITY TO HAVE NEW THEATER
ANACONDA, Oct. 12.â€" The building formerly occupied by the Fuller Drug store at 415 East Park avenue Will be remodeled Into a modern theater, it was announced today by Joseph A. English, manager of the Washoe and Bluebird theaters here and purchaser of the East Park avenue building. Second-run pictures will be shown at the theater on its completion.
Regarding LMs question of 7/13, I can now put the ads on CT, but I doubt if they want me to post some of these ads for porno films. Probably the same prohibition as linking to adult sites, which I can understand. Too bad as some of the ads from the sixties and seventies are very creative without being obscene.
In 1914 the Anaconda Standard was advertising shows at the Alcazar and the Grand. Jumping ahead to 1958, the Montana Standard advertised several theaters in the Anaconda area. They were the Washoe, the Center, the West Valley Drive-In, the Rustic Drive-In and the In and Out Drive-In. The West Valley was showing “Far Horizons” with Fred MacMurray and “Charles” Heston.

So what to do with the building if no movies?

I will, thanks.

I Have to get a couple of those FDYs eventually. I only see one listed in the LA Library catalog, from 1932.
The local paper was advertising plays at the Margaret in 1912. They probably used it for movies later on, before it burned down.

415 E. Park was the address of the third theater in Anaconda. The Bluebird must have had a different Park Avenue address.

It looks like the theater in the photo starts with an I. Then again, it could be an old ad for a theater in a different location.
The Tropic was taken over by a church from 1991 to 1993, according to the church website:

I should have said “There was another old theater on the right side of the street, that said ‘theatre’ on the side of the building”. My mistake.

There was another old theater on Main Street in the 1950s. No clue as to the identity, though. It may have been a playhouse:

So it would be part of the “No Remaining Seats” program.
It would be good on some of those aerial photos.
Then why the church sign?
