I just got back form Chiagoa nd had a chacne to stroll by this theatre yesterday. How wonderful to see an old movie palace still in use. I think they may be adding and 8th scree, The marquee has a slot now for 8 screens.
I can’t afford to contirbute a lot, but will be more than happy to contribute what Ican. I love this site. As it was posted above, this keeps the grand old theatres alive
To my knowledge AMC hasn’t changed any of it signs. Maybe they plan on keeping the theaters AMC/Loews like RKO/Stanley Warner kept the 2 names when they merged.
I agree with the post above. I went to AMC Granite Run 2 weeks ago when I was in town and AMC sucks. The theater had so many ads plus the popcorn was so salty it made me sick. The manager was nice enough to refund my money.
I grew up going to this theater in the 60’s and 70’s. I just was in the area lastweek and my cousin said the neighborhood is absolutley terrible that they have tons of cops when there is a show there becuase it’s so unsafe.
I was just back in Philly last week and was sadden to look at the nespaper and see nothing but megapexes. Ecept for 3 or 4 theaters all the others are gone. Even the popular Eric Pennsuaken aka UA Pensauken is no longert in existance.
In the late 70’s I used to go to this theater when I went to visit my friend. I remember that had great curtains that went up, but no masking. When the Citrus 6 opened it put a damper on this theatre.

The Stage Door opened in 1971 with Carnal Knowledge which was also at the Milgram. The last film to play there was a film with Natalie Wood called The Last Married COuple In America.
The Exocrist opened there Dec 25 ,1973 not at the Milgram as posted earlier.
I rememer when I saw this movie i natlantic City at the Apollo, it was shown in lfat after all the adds showed it beinf filemd in panavision. Was it supposed to be flat or scope?
If this theater is like the Carmike 10 in Asheville, the chain is a rip off. They way over charge for drinks and popcorn. Their large isn’t even as big as Regal’s meduim and the price is $6.25. Only if I am desperate do I attend this theater. It would suit me just fine if the chain was sold.
This theater is anything but small. I went there as a child weekly to see movies. The balcony is also huge. The theater has two large staircases in the front plus a large one in the back. I wonder what they do for rest rooms. They were both downstairs for the orchestra level. Handicap laws have changed.

In between The Shoes of The Fisherman and Paint Your Wagon, they had I A Woman Part 2 (then considered X rating) and The Wild BUnch plus a bunch of other non roadshow engagement.
Hello Dolly was roadshow until June than it went to regular performances due to the lack of popularity and the bad reviews.
As a kid we went there all the time. Is aw Pinnochio there, father Goose, The Art Of Love, The Trail Of Billy Jack and many others that I can’t remember. Near the end they started showing adult films and since the screen was visible from Baltimore Pike, it caused a lot of complaints.
This is on the site of the former Atco Drive-In.

I have asked the same thingi n abouve posts and never got an answer. I knew Craig when I worked at the Festival in 1980 and 81.
Whi is Melinda Katz and what does she have to do with this theatre?

You could see this theatre from the black horse pike on the way home from Atlantic City.

Star Wars opened on Wed May 25. Actually all the Star Wars films opened on the 25th. The dates for Empire and Jedi are incorrect.

This theatre was also used as a legit broadway house in the late 70 -early 80’s. I remember them playing Black and Blue with Leslie Uggums
