I.m typing it now over at National Hills…
Last I heard he was in Western north Carolina running a Bed and breakfast place. I know my theatre people in this TOWN. Don’t know what would make him fire you and i guess Cathy.wonder if Mr.A was behind it to get you guys to Atlanta makes me wonder.
Hahahaha…he was behind it, but he made somebody else do the dirty work. He made the guy they had hired to be the N H manager do it.
I never liked Georgia Theatres I bet it was little Curt Harris that let you go.Typical sterotype of a movie theatre manager one sees in the movies. I am right?
No Mike…it was when they took over National Hills and I didn’t even work one day…I showed up and was FIRED!!! I’ll tell it over there.
Okay here it is MIKE,Robin,TLSLOEWS and maybe Nick. You worked one DAY! There must be a story there for us to read about,Find the right Theatre in Atlanta and write the Story.I am sure it is on CT.
O.K. how about 2 points then.
Thank you so much…I think I deserve more than one. That was a very traumatic experience for me :)
O.K. Robin I vote to give your point back.
Give me my point back….Georgia Theatres fired me before I even worked for them one day!!! LOL
If I can ever get my two daugthers off the computer over the weekend,I am really going to do it.the Augusta Chroncile charges for the service, which is okay.My friend Tim,Stage Manager at the Imperial pulled hundreds of ads from the 60’s searching for info on the PEPSI BUDDY CLUB kid movies,I am sure you remember them every saturday at the IMPERIAL. I guess I am top THEATRE DAWG with TLSLOEWS second even though he never worked for PLITT or GCC. Robin loses a point for working for Georgia Theatres! Nick,in Tampa is Third he only worked 6 months in the business!
Mike is the TOP DAWG!!!!!
Haha…yea, I meant while I was there. Sorry, forgot I was talking to King Theatre Dawg! I could easily do Imperial late 1980 til it closed and National Hills late 1981 til December 1983.
Robin, you are a great theatre person, but i know you mean.when you say the IMPERIAL you are speaking of when you managed it because it would take years to compile every film that played there. Heck, we are going to have to do I was thinking the first year of NATIONAL HILLS.I really would like to know all the films we played while i was there from 1976 to 1980. Even if i don’t list themall on CT,But i saw a few places where folks have listed years and years of movies at one theatre.Local paper has all those great ads.
Ok Mike…is this a challenge? You do Columbia and I’ll have to do the Imperial!
i am thinking seriously of doing what others have done and list All the movies that played at COLUMBIA 1 and 2 while i was there.Partly because i am curious of what we played,It will take time, but i really want to do it.
Okay,Nick,I will check them out.Glad you can do this.
For all interested parties: I just posted photos of the Auto Park, Floriland, Fun-Lan and Hillsboro Drive-Ins. Also, the Florida, Garden, Palace and Ritz Theatres (in Tampa that is!) Check ‘em out.
Already read it Mike.
Nick, i am going to mail Robin some pictures of NATIONAL HILLS closed and I think you all will enjoy the pictures,So glad I drove over there in 1996 and took pictures. Wish you would have had a camera at DALE MARBY when you went back after closing, but we never think about it.
The Daniel Village Theatre Building id still standing. At one time COMCAST was in it,but it is still standing. Nick, DALE MARBY was the best i have ever read. I hope TLSLOEWS sees it and reads it.I wish others would take note of it.
Super photos! Thanks for posting them Robin!
Mike, the screen at the Weis Drive-In is nearly identical to the 20th Century screen. Is the Daniel Village building gone or still standing?
I was hoping Bill would have made a few Copies from his book, that is what i was hoping he would do. I too.dropped him a line thanking him for coming. I think next fall we can have a decent ABC/PLITT reunion.
I thought about scanning the book, but it sorta might be over doing it with CT readers.I wouldn’t want them to see all the fun we had in the business.I will select a few more and mail them your way.You should be getting a ton of stuff from me Saturday or Monday. I have a copy of shots of C.Dray at REGENCY MALL CINEMAS that I could send. About the reunion I know i can get agood many of my crowd from my days and suggest we do it at a resturant somewhere around the Mall. You and I living where we do is do is a bit far for those who aren’t hardcore, but would like to come. We had a reunion party in Evans and it just drew a few folks.
Mike…you are wasting too much money on these copies and mailing. You should just bring your book back over one day and let me scan the pages :)
Also, this situation is clear as mud! Bill sent me a copy of his pictures too (which I hate to say are much better than mine) and I called to thank him. While I had him on the phone I asked him who is doing the next reunion. He kept saying we’ll do it. Who the heck is we? Me and him? All of us? Hahaha…what do you think?
