I am. The original ad was in the ACP on a Sunday. It showed Funny Girl Starting May 23 and Oliver starting May 29.Both shows were roadshow and had the mail in order info. They did not advertise Sweet Charity at the Virginia. I also know Sweet Charity closed August 14 and they opened Krakatoa August 15. Now it is possible that the ads for FG and Airport were incorrect. As I remember it was not on the posters in store windows either. Hamid had posters for all his 5 theaters all over AC in store windows. Doctor Dolittle didn’t play all summer. The Hollywood got Boom with Liz and Dick on August 8, 1968.Movies were a big thing to me as a kid and I loved the old theaters. Now AC, Ocean City and Wildwood are are defunct of movie theaters even though that is going to change this summer in Ocean City. The Sound Of Music opened the Ocean Theater in Wildwood in 1966 and it may have been 70MM. I don’t know that for sure. I do know they had a great curved screen with double curtains. I love the 70MM sight and glad you put the information out there.
There were several times the ACP showed in the ads for Funny Girl and Airport 70MM. yes, nothing showed on the marquee of either films that it was 70MM. I definitely remember the ads. So is the 70MM site yours? It’s awesome. I loved what you posted because I didn’t know WSS played the Virginia. And yes, the curved screen didn’t necessary mean 70MM. The screen at the Center was much better than the Virginia. The Virginia had no masking or curtains. The Center had both. So did the Roxy. I never understood why Hamid had the Virginia as the major roadhouse theater because the Roxy and Center were much better.
MSC77 interesting. The ACP showed it in the paper that all three were 70MM.I saw Funny Girl twice at the Center and they had a gigantic curved screen. You have any clue where they get their information from?
They left out Funny Girl in 1969. It was in 70MM. Also, the Hollywood next door presented Doctor Dolittle and Airport in 70MM. They don’t even list that theater.
Love this picture,. I remember the Music Hall well. I never understood why with all the curtains on that stage they didn’t use one as masking. The Casino had masking/curtains

It seems like AMC has closed the majority of the Carmike chain. Why did they buy them if they knew they were not good. I loved AMC when I lived in Florida but the location here sucks. I avoid it for years and now that new policy they have is crazy. The one here signed a 7.5 year lease when they took it over which would end sometime this year. They did add recliners a few years back so maybe this is a good location for them. I know there are not many theaters in the area where they are.

Just saw you comment from 2021. I don’t think the Embassy was a roadshow theater except for Dr. Zhivago. It was like the Charles had 1 The Lion In Winter and the Apollo had Last Tango In Paris. Except for the Roxy most of Hamid’s other theaters had roadshow engagements. The Virginia was so plain and boring, no masking or curtains. The Roxy was a show palace. Why that wasn’t his roadshow house still has me scratching my head. I wish someone from his family was on here and could explain that logic. The only reason this closed after the 73 season was the government bought the block and building and would not let him open which was crazy because others on the block did.
The theater had beautiful murals on the ceiling. The fireman comment the day after the fire that it was horrible watching the beautiful ceiling collapse
It was reserved performances even in Philly. I know it was also in 70MM
One by one AMC is closing all the theaters they took over from Carmike.
So what is all the construction they are doing?
Like everything else the bowling alley closed and was demolished for a casino parking lot. They kept the marquee and entrance.

I know there’s no subway near there but there are busses

It was always the Terrace Theater except very briefly. Name should be changed back to Terrace.

This must have been amazing on the Ziegfeld screen. Was it 70MM?
That would be interesting. AMC sucks. They used to be awesome until China bought them out
Which theater is this?
The only other show to play a 2 week reserved seat engagement was Dreamgirls in 2006. They also had a souvenir program.

So what are they doing in the RPX theater?

I am sick and tired of POS AMC closing the Carmike locations they bought.
They were NOT out there the past two days. All Regal other theaters were showing updated listings except this one for some odd reason.
This theater was called the Warner when it closed not the Warren. The name should be changed.

AMC is closing almost all the Carmike locations. Why they were approved to buy Carmike is ridiculous
This theater was another Hamid theater with no masking or curtains
