Seems that the Disney movie is doing well at the box office, although ticket prices are higher than any Disney film that premiered in big cities before spreading wide. Is Avatar going to play here? That should do better than the Disney movie once the Disney movie expands nationwide.
On the 23rd, a Red Carpet premiere of the World Series film will take place at this theater at 7:30 p.m., which is being done by Screenvision and will also air it at several theaters, mostly independent theaters and Clearview cinemas, including the Ziegfeld theater. On the same day the film is in theaters, the DVD will be available for those who buy tickets and will also be on sale at retailers.
Kat/Virg, if you are lucky enough you could park in front of the theater or a block away. There’s a pay parking garage a block away, too. Since the last two times I visited the Ziegfeld were on Sunday, I was able to park for free on the street in front of the Ziegfeld and the last time, a block away. I did not feel like paying $20 for the parking in addition to the already high Manhattan price for seeing a movie there.
my mistake….the highest grossing kid films are animated 2d style. Younger moviegoers prefer cgi movies, while older moviegoers prefer the old-fashioned way. I hope this movie makes a profit for Disney and brings life to their dying animation division (which sadly needs a hit after the disaster that was “Home on the Range”).

I saw an ad for the two-week engagement at this theater while I was another Clearview in Mansfield. Seems that Disney wants to get great per-screen averages from these big city engagements before expanding wide in December, which Disney has done with great success with other animated films. Too bad it won’t be in 3D and it will bomb since most moviegoers prefer CGI cartoons.
Hi – i live in NJ and my friend and I will be taking our 4yr. old kids to see The Princess & the Frog at the Ziegfield and going to the Roseland Ballroom afterwards and would like any advise on where to park and also if anyone knows of a good place to take the kids to eat nearby would be appreciated. I’m still remembering the time that West Side Story played at the Clearview/Ziegfeld Cinema three years ago (this Saturday, to be exact). My cousin and I went and had a wonderful time.
The restored version of “Spartacus” opened on April 26, 1991 at the Ziegfeld Theatre. It had the World Re-Premiere on April 21st, 1991.

I was wondering if someone could help clarify aan historical point for me?
About ten years or so ago I remember attending the release of the “restored” version of Spartacus at an absolutely beautiful theater in New York!(yes, they did draw the curtain.) it was the ‘roadshow" performance… a wonderful movie experience.
But I’m curious, was the Ziegfield the theater that was showing Spartacus during this time period? If it was I’ll be sure to pay a return visit.

For $30 and up, they’d better open and close the curtains VERRRY slowly at every show :)
According to the Clearview website, the Disney animated feature “The Princess and the Frog” opens exclusively at the Ziegfeld on November 25. Tickets for the reserved seat “Royal” sections: $50 each. General admission: $30. No, those prices are not typos. “Royal” and general admission tickets include admission to the “Ultimate Disney Experience” at Roseland. The number of “Royal” vs. general admission seats vary by performance. Tickets are on sale through December 13.
i think all those sweet kids who world in the box office are such cuties. I’d let any of them open my curtains any day…. ;–)
ok, enjoyed 3:30 PM Saturday show today. Both curtains closed & opened after the pre-show. Projection & sound were excellent. Auditorium about half filled with enthusiastic audience, just as LuisV experienced. Staff was exceptionally nice, as always. Huge graphics on exterior & inside, for this Harry Potter movie. A cinema flagship experience!

Just saw Harry Potter at The Ziegfeld last night and, as usual, it was a wonderful experience. The theater was about half full but had had a very enthusiastic audience. The curtains were used and there was wide applause when they did.
Regarding the movie itself…..I enjoyed it, but it was my least favorite of the 6 films.
Obama was speaking at the Hilton across the street for the NAACP’s 100th anniversary and we thought maybe Sacha and Malia might slip into the Ziegfeld………..they didn’t! :–)
Based on the success of the Mets at the Movies series at this theater, Clearview is expanding it to other theaters, including Chelsea and Parsippany, near where I live. They might do the same with Rangers games as well.
Transformers 2 is now playing at this theater in DLP.
Love this theater and can do very little wrong in my book. Never had bad sound, picture or any major issue.
While visiting NYC on vacation this week, I took some time and went to the 4:00 PM show of “Up” at the Ziegfeld yesterday. After reading and following some of the postings here from some time, I was not sure what to expect. Well happily it was a great experience! We were greeted with genuine courtesy by all, from the ticket booth to the concession stand. The theater was very neat and well kept. The sound was fantastic, and the image was clear and crisp. Granted, the screen size is not that great, but I’m spoiled here in LA with the Cinerama Dome. No, they did not use the curtains. The 3D was ok, but in my opinion the film did not really need it. The best part was after the show while we were exiting, one of the employees told my son “Hey, don’t forget your dad this Father’s Day!” I told him thanks, and that we loved the theatre and the show, to which he replied “And the theater loves you. Come back!” And we sure will next time we’re in town.

Problems above with sound too loud or low or cancelled showings seem to be especially Mondays to Thursdays rather than weekends. In general, I’m guessing the best projectionists are asked to work over the weekends, when the theater wouldn’t cancel screenings (unless something isn’t working in the theater).
I’ve never encountered sound too low or high at the Ziegfeld, in my mostly weekend shows.
The Ziegfeld is a magical place though maybe not a profitable place, and we should all be thankful it still shows movies.
James Cameron keeps plugging his upcoming “Avatar” as the ultimate 3D experience, like nothing that has ever been seen before. Fox will probably charge $10 extra to see that.
All theaters are charging $3.00 extra for the digital 3D. I know Clearview mentions that it is for the cost of the glasses. No one says you have to return them. There are recycling containers if you want. I keep mine. And trying taking your own next time. The admission is still $15.50. LOL.
