Happy Birthday CLINT EASTWOOD.I know alot of your movies did not play here, but “COOGAN’S BLUFF” rated M,did.
On that above picture,ONE of our YOUNG stagehands saw the picture taped in the union room and he thought THE BEATLES played Augusta.
Nick,Thanks so much for doing this for me.You don’t know how happy it makes me. I couldn’t attend the FRIENDS OF THE MILLER. I didn’t even have enough for child support or car insurance, but a check for a show i worked came in Saturday, while typing this BANK OF AMERICA calls on a holiday looking for money. Can you believe it. I hope to make an event for the FRIENDS OF THE MILLER,I have some items to give them, just didn’t have that extra 25.00.I am so glad Rochelle understood. Thanks again.Tlsloews wants you to print my DR.PHIBES one sheet on that CT site. I guess i will be mailing you a picture down. Thanks so much.
Cool photo Nick.

WOW! Look at that line of kids awaiting entrance to the opening of “A HARD DAY’S NIGHT” in August 1964. Certainly not a quiet day at the Miller!
12-24-75 “LUCKY LADY” opens at the Miller with the big cast it dies quick.
I will let you know,Nick. I can’t figure out what to give them.
I hope you guys have a great reunion!! Mike…let me know how it all turns out. Well at least I got to see the outside of the Miller that day you took us downtown. It sure would’ve been great to have seen the inside but those rear exit doors just would’t budge!
08-03-69 the X-rated “MIDNIGHT COWBOY” opens at the MILLER. no problems with officals.
I know you guys will,if i can make it I will bring you something that I think you guys outta have. Just promise me if you ever disband the group Friends of the Miller,Plez let me have it back.
I will definitely take care of the theatre items you were able to save from the trash bins.
Iplan on bringing a couple of items to give to the FRIENDS OF THE MILLER,but you gotta promise to take care of them.
Augusta Amusements is screening another classic movie at Ft. Discovery’s Paul Simon Theater, Saturday May 29th. The feature movie will be “From Here to Eternity”. At the conclusion of the movie – “A Salute to Merle Travis” featuring Merle’s son, Thom Bresh.

I will plan to have more historic theatre documents on display that involve the Miller, Modjeska & Imperial and will recognize past theatre employees if your group can make it.
Hope to see you there.
Each Ed was a daily gross, but like i was telling CHuck 1231 it might include Concessions Too. Were not separated in the old Ledger. I am waiting for Bill Barkley to let me know about CAT BALLOU and SHIP OF FOOLS. I never heard of the Collector. He ran movies there from the middle 60’s to closing.
Very interesting grosses, Mike, but are they for the first day only, the first full week, the entire engagement or what?
All this from a LEDGER that was tossed in the trash after the MILLER quit showing Films. I only wish i could have saved everything.

Tim Campbell over at the Imperial, wanted to basically do the same.Did you talk to him. He wants to do PEPSI/KELLY BUDDY CLUB series at the IMPERIAL. I told him I bet Terry Sams {TROOPER TERRY on Channel 6} would probably be glad to help with it. Boy, That’s alot old employees. JUST DON’T show “JAWS” even though i know it was the biggest grosser to play downtown.I had a whole summer of that SHARK.
Mike, sound like Augusta Amusements (company that owned and managed the Modjeska, Imperial, Rialto, Dreamland and built the Miller, Cloverleaf and Hilltop) should sponsor a FREE Classic Movie Night for past employees of our downtown theatres. Check out my website.

I gave a picture of the statue that was stolen to someone down there. I can always make you a copy. Had I known someone was going to steal it I would have taken it when i went in ,at least I would be able to give it back, I have the Blueprints of upstairs somewhere in my basement with other stuff. I hope one day to give it all back when you guys get going. I have given material to Tim at the Imperial , so i am not not shooting you a line of BS. Get with Tim and he can let me know if you want the statue picture. I do have a picture of the MILLER playing a BEATLES movie,Tim has that picture too.
Friends, I only have pictures of when I went in years ago, none when the theatre was really a grand theatre. It’s funny, i use to assist.mgr. at the Imperial when one no else wanted to. I would work Columbia 1 and 2 or National Hills and both were great places, but the downtown theatres in the good days ,my days, 1974 -79 we were always wanted to out do the Miller and I am sure they thought the same, going neck and neck with great films. and even though they were GEORGIA THEATRES and we were ABC THEATRES on a busy night they had no problem loaning us ice when we had a big show, and we did the same for the MILLER.
Mike R. always enjoy your posts about the Miller’s history. Any pictures you would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated. Seems so difficult to locate pictures of our downtown historic theatres.
Well, the first “AIRPORT” plays here,so the MILLER gets “AIRPORT 75” rated PG.Nov.1 1974.
