The cinema built in 1950, with capacity for 533 seated persons, was the Cine Rialto, owned by Eleno Torres. This cinema name, was changed to Cine Victoria in the 1960’s, today is totally in ruins due to lack of maintenance and decay.

This photo of the same block of Consulado St between Animas and Trocadero in the year 1955, you can see in the top left, behind the Hotel Lido neon sign, the sign for the Verdun Theater and a little further you can appreciate the Majestic Theater sign. Big difference that a half century of neglect did to the area.

The former Cine Gonzalez was reconstructed in 1997 with help from the Marianao sister municipality of Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain. Transformed into a theater for children, its new name of Sant Boi Theater reflects the gratitude for the help in the restoration.
This theater was renamed “Sagua”, after the Castro’s revolution.
The Marti Theater renovations are complete and as been reopened with live shows.

Don’t have a clue about this movie theater. With that name [Cine Gonzalez], I only remember the one in Marianao.

More commonly know as the Grand Cinema, not to be confused with the Grand Theater on Ave. 51, Marianao
It was commonly know as the Grand Cinema, do not confuse it with the Grand Theater of Marianao.

This movie theater is more properly name Gran Theater to difference it from the Gran Cinema, located in 10 de Octubre # 1372.

The Cine Tosca has been demolished, this photo shows the Tosca Bakery, the movie theater used to be just across it.
