Just went to the theater today to see Borat, and boy, this is the best movie theater around town! A big, almost IMAX-like screen in theater #15, surround sound, plus a digital pre-show…although the tickets are more pricey than Clearview, the seats are more comfortable and the parking is convenient.
How many seats are in each theater, and which ones are the largest?
I saw Fast Food Nation in one of the smaller theaters – the screen was pretty big, the seats weren’t AMC style, but they were comfortable and had the love seats (the backs weren’t as high as they are at the Empire 25). The theater itself was well done – important to this site, Jordarmoviefan, because it could serve as a model for rebranding Loews sites, the Loews Cinemplex’s searchlight logo is shadowed in the art work and building design, while everything else is AMC. I don’t know if they ever will rebrand the Loews sites (I guess if they can get out of the Fandango/Screenvision deal, perhaps), but this is a good new theater, and one of several new complexes slated for Northern NJ (SOPAC is currenly open and is nice but its disapointing that Clearview is the only chain not building new theaters with stadium seating, the others on the way are the Muvico at Xanadu and a new theater at Garden State Plaza)
Went to the 4:15 showing of Casino Royale (a gigantic borefest) at the new Rockaway 16 yesterday. Screen was nice and large, digital sound was pretty good (bass was a little too boomy and one-note for my taste, they just need to calibrate it better), crowd was well-behaved. Other than the endless video commercials and then film trailers, the presentation was top-notch. Only technical issue was that there’s a light in the projection booth that, when it was turned on, cast a rectangular shadow image on the left side of the screen. They need to find that light and move it and/or mask off the window it’s shining through.

I agree with you. What sound formats do the new screens offer? And are they THX-certified, like the Clifton Commons theater?
From what the picture of their concession stand look like, it has the old Loews Theatres “Lights” logo on the stand’s front. The seats are definitely AMC “Stadium Seating” style seats

I agree with you, it will open this week and it might become a Cinema Treasure if people treat the theater like a great movie theater.

You never know. Maybe someday this place will hold great memories for today’s group of kids who love to go to the movies. Time will tell.
How on earth is a theater that hasn’t even been open, much less ‘experienced’ is placed on a site that is supposed to ‘discover, preserve and protect’ ones that have been in existence for a long time?
It goes against what this website is about.
The idea of continuing submissions like this one seem more like a plug for patronage than for protecting a venue’s history and memories. Its as if we’re supposed to get excited about the opening of a new McDonalds.
I read on the AMC website that it doesn’t have stadium seating, but they’re wrong, I guess. No digital projection. I wonder which celebrities will attend the gala premiere of the Theatre, which will screen “Deck the Halls” one day before the free movie day sponsored by the Daily Record and AMC.
Originally to be opened as Loews (the name will likely be abandoned for any future new construction as the Loews name implies that they’d be a Fangango and Screenvision theater verses a MovieTickets.com and National Cinemedia theater) – it has a few key design features of a new Loews including the billboard sized movie posters. The design is also simular to that of the Loews Alderwood site near Settle, WA. I’m curious to see (and will see, I guess this weekend) if they’ve furnished the interiror AMC style with their seats and designs or if it will be Loews without the name.
If you check the theater’s website at http://www.amctheatres.com/ there’s tons of stuff do to before and after the grand opening of the multiplex. The first movie I’ll probably see is Casino Royale…the way it was meant to be seen…on a giant screen!!!
Finally. I was born near the Succasunna 10 and originally went to this theater in the 80s. If you look at the original posting for this at /theaters/10028/ there was a Rockaway Inner and Outer back in the 80s. Great to finally see it back again. I do miss the 80s feel to the theaters though.
