I worked as a Stagehand on “CARMEN” we spent weeks fixing up the dressing rooms downstairs and getting it ready for the Opera and Ballet.I put the Marquee up on “CARMEN” the only one I ever did Downtown, even though I worked the Imperial as an Doorman and later Assistant Mgr..I have a picture of “Carmen” that I hope my friend Nick in Tampa will get on since he has a printer,Shows the set and most of the stage.I don’t think we used the pit Elevator at all, Henry 41.
Greg,i have plenty of copies of his newspaper and would be glad to send you a couple.i remember your by-line in the Atlanta papers,a dream I had.4595 Silver Lake Drive, evans 30809.I learned so much about Augusta Politics and Newspapers than any thing taught at Augusta College.Jay made one of the early attempts to Save the Modjeska if you remember that.I think you sister Jill helped out with the NEWS. I just wish more locals would get on CT. thanks.
Barry also told me that he wanted to slip into the old mall explore the Cinemas and see if he could find a Clock that Zack had on his Desk!Or anything Zack might have left.Wish he would get on CT. even Charles.
every time I see Barry at a Show he says Tell Russell to give me a call. I will have to dig up the pictures,Last i was in there a Cop car drove right threw that old section of Shopping center.but he drove on.Thank goodness,I had Sean and Kyle in there with me. Rochelle is working at Doctors, she thought she saw you at the cafe there.
edward, justin and Chris good Comments,What could I say about the Business today really wouldn’t matter to your average moviegoer,Believe it or not they were raising Hell in the 70’s when tickets were $3.00 a seat and a large drink, hold on to your laptop, were SIXTY-FIVE cents!!!!!!!!
The owner of the BIG-MO Drive-in does the same thing at intermission, gets on and yaks and yaks and yaks.Give me a break, but the BIG-MO; it is a mom and pop operation.
Atlanta, like so many cities under went an over screening process during the Eighties which every chain would build something better and kill the cinema down the road,I knew a Theatre Manager that called them “DEATHSTARS”.
Bob Smith.ACCU-BOB of Channel 12 News was our relief operator at ABC THEATRES and was a BIG model Train Fan.You guys might know him.he retired from NEWS12 a year or so ago.
