How do you watch anything on AMC with all the cuts and commericals.TCM so much better. We played Both Godfathers at Nationals Hills on a Midnight show, think they got out about four in the morning.I was at Columbia Square and had more sense than to book those two. You got a good Find with that one-sheet,I might even have a “Godfather III” one sheet. Are we off topic again,Darn it.
times change,at one time a family movie would a kiss of death back in my days, but much of the Disney product then was horrible.Remember “GUS”. Re-releases of Disney Classics would often be booked in be it “Lt.Robin Crusoe” or “Snow White”. Often indy films would play for a couple of weeks “SEARCH FOR NOAH’S ARK” and would be gone,These Films today start in a large house as I know you guys know and work itself down to 125 seat house, then to be shipped over to the Dollar Cinema Across town.In other Words, Family pictures often carry a PG rating which has no weight to it anymore compared to the PG pictures of my day, namely.“BILLY JACK”. Just a few comments from an old dogged theatre manager.
Best of luck in retirement Dennis, you started 2 years before I did, I had a good ten year run from tearing tickets to doing paperwork you have seen such a great change in the business.Hope you share your many stories here.
yes, thank goodness we have old Theatre Employees to tell these Great Stories.I love reading every one and Like Myself i bet they wished they could go back in Time to Work a Friday night on a new release.
Pity Charlotte was so small minded to lose all her old theatres downtown. My hometown of Augusta has SAVED three Downtown Theatres from the wrecking Crew.
I guess you misunderstood.“My Side” is G rated,I meant for more business you think they would have booked a more adult film, but in those days I guess the “G” rating did not carry the kiss of death.
