Philadelphia, July 13â€" A man was shot in the back today by a policeman who surprised two men attempting to break into a theater safe in northeast Philadelphia. At Frankford hospital, William Miller, 31, was reported in critical condition. The .38 calibre bullet passed through his body. Patrolman Hugh Campbell, 62, said he was walking past the Crest theater at 2:30 a.m. when he heard a muffled thud as the safe was overturned. Listening at the door he heard the sound of a chisel on steel and quickly commanded a taxi to summon other policemen.
Television is not going away, folks. From the Mexico (MO) Evening Ledger in May 1954:
MOBERLY â€" The 4th Street Theater will close Wednesday, May 5, for the summer months, according to Ralph Wallace, manager of both the Grand and 4th Street houses. Mr. Wallace said the Columbia television station had caused, he hopes temporarily, a decreased attendance since the first of the year. However, he thinks the theater will reopen next fall.
Here is part of a November 1978 article from the LA Times:
IDM Corp., Long Beach-based residential and commercial developer, is planning four developments using private financing in a revitalization of the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach. IDM has acquired two vacant parcels on Long Beach Blvd and two theaters, the Towne and the Crest, on Atlantic Avenue.
After leveling the Towne Theater, IDM began construction of the 22,000-square foot professional center at 4425 Atlantic Ave. Plans are being completed on the $1.5 million Crest Business Center at 4275 Atlantic Ave., at the former Crest Theater site. Both projects are scheduled to be finished in the spring of 1979.

When you say “was located”, you’re telling us that the Trader Joes building replaced the Crest building?
You’re a tough grader. Glad you weren’t at my school.
I’ll work on it.
I thought that was pretty funny too. Even has photos.
Here is somebody’s term paper, subject Del Rio Theater:

I think it’s demolished. I’ve been up and down that block dozens of times, and if there was an old theater I would have stopped and poked around.
I have, but I can’t tell from there if there is any remodeled theater.
I haven’t seen anything there resembling the theater. I can take another look the next time I’m in that area.
I think the term is “warm and fuzzy”, as in memories. Just consider it bathed in the glow of nostalgia.
