As i am the President of Syville Chamber Of Commerce and once was a dm for this theater when Cineplex Odeon ran it ,i can tell you it is a house of changing mgt companys.This theater changer owners every few years , when Cineplex Odeon ran it the grosses (in the 80s)were BAD.They do a good bargin TUES all seats $5.00 still to this day.
This was never agood house for UA /a very good theater up the road Pj cinemas a mom and pop multiplex that still does very well and has outlasted the big boys.
this is one of the few nice old theaters left on long island . This was part of the ua 3 way discount houses , the least succesfull of the 3 but respectable grosses . What year did this open this an old building.
That is true i have one that is redone in my town very nice but the goverment has no bsns saving private bsns. Just my opinion and as you know i love old theaters.
You do have a good point town goverments have no bsns being in the theater bsns. I love old theaters but do not support govrment take overs of the buildings.

The OAKDALE theater is alive and well as a live theater and has been restored.
