i agree….i sat in the middle of an IMAX screen in Rockaway and saw the pixels floating around the screen. Good thing Rockaway will have digital projection that’s higher res than digital IMAX (4k vs 2k) in all of its screens.

The IMAX here is one of the least immersive and underwhelming I’ve seen. The screen isn’t wall to wall as they’re are two access corridors to the exits behind the screen. They did remove the first two rows and installed a sound system, but Garden State already had large screens, judging by the throw of the room I’m willing to bet the picture isn’t much larger in Theater 2 than it is in 3 and 5, equally as large across the hallway.

To simulate the experience of seeing Hubble 3-D in a “classic” IMAX I decided to sit closer than I normally would – to my astonishment I could see the pixels on screen. I’m not impressed with digital IMAX and would feel even more screwed I think had I paid an upgrade fee for a 2-D feature.

it’s all digital except for one screen, which is still 35mm. Salt is currently playing in film.

At what point in june will the theater go all digital? Looks like it’s mostly 3D and liemax movies playing at this theater right now, slimshady, with the other screens showing 35mm film.

This will mark an end of showing film in Paramus for 45 years. Plus prices are outrageous already (alongside the other AMC theaters in NJ and elsewhere).

Last night the theater had to be evacuated due to the rain and wind. It’s open as of right now.

I think Rockaway might be the largest. BTW, this theater is closed due to the snow. It might reopen tomorrow.

I’m confused, how can Empire’s IMAX be a larger screen than here when someone said this theater’s largest screen is larger than Rockaway 16’s largest screen when Rockaway’s IMAX screen is larger than Empire (NYC)’s IMAX screen??

Which is the largest liemax in NJ? Here, Rockaway or Jersey Gardens?

A friend of mine went to see Avatar in either digital 3-D or Imax 3-D and although he liked the movie, he felt somewhat dizzy after nearly 3 hours of 3-D action.

I think anything over 4 screens shouldn’t even be on cinema treasures. You talking about a business that runs them in and out like cattle.Glad i got out in the early 80’s.

4900 seats? that’s quite a lot for an amc theater even more than the old tenplex or triplex.

have you tried the liemax at rockaway or jersey gardens? I think i’ll skip them and go see the real thing at palisades center, which is easier to get to than sitting in new york traffic coming to the big city (both empire and Lincoln Square). I never been to the Empire theater but I usually see the front of it while driving down Times Square.

i didn’t liked it… i thought the screen at Empire was bigger than the imax screen at garden state… and plus the picture wasn’t bright enuff either.. sound was kicking…

looks like the imax is opening just at this location, leaving the rockaway to open in a month with avatar as the next movie.
