Last night, the Somerville Theatre and much of surrounding Davis Square were closed to accommodate a Hollywood film crew. They shot a scene for the forthcoming Mark Wahlberg movie TED, in which Mark attends a May 19, 1999 midnight premiere of STAR WARS EPISODE 1: THE PHANTOM MENACE at the Somerville Theatre.

The marquee and poster boards were changed to reflect this imaginary event. The red SOMERVILLE THEATRE sign over the marquee had its RVILL letters turned off during the shoot. Whether this was done on purpose, I don’t know.

In real life, a Star Wars premiere could never have happened here in 1999, as the Somerville was strictly a second-run house back then.

If I want to re-do a Street View according to your guidelines, how do I get back the button for doing this?

Then there’s the Challenge of Boston, where the same street name is used for multiple different streets in different neighborhoods. Bowdoin Street, Cambridge Street, and especially Washington Street. I hope to soon be able to help CinemaTreasures fix the many theatres that got assigned to the wrong street with the right name.

If you could support HTML in comments, that would be even better. Most people know how to use HTML.

Once I’ve added a theatre, is there some additional step I need to take to put it into the ‘Newest Theatres’ list?

I got past the first page, but now I’m on the second. I filled in ‘Retail’ under ‘Functions’, and pressed ‘Add’, and that cleared the form field I had just filled in. Now I press the ‘Finish Theater and Save’ button, and it does nothing at all. No new page, no waiting for a new page, just nothing.

I am trying to add a new theatre (Champion Theatre in Columbus, Ohio). When I hit the “Save Basic Theatre Information” button, I get a page that says “We’re sorry, but something went wrong”.

This error message is not at all informative! Could you please change it to explain what I have done wrong when filling out the form, please?

Bway, I’m using Google Chrome. All of the other comments here look fine, except for Bway on May 31, 2011 at 12:09 pm, which is cut off by the column’s right margin.

Thanks. And finally, how do I fix incorrect maps? I’ve tried to pick up the red pushpin and move it, but that doesn’t work. A number of Boston theatres are on the wrong streets, because the city has multiple streets with the same name in different neighborhoods.
