KenRoe: Thanks for the additional information. Too bad Mr. Matthews' love of movies didn’t allow him to see fit to restore it as a theatre rather than serving as the Matthews Construction Co. If so, he would have had to level the slanted floor that theatres all do have or had!
JohnMessick: Such a shame that this theatre is gone! And I agree….I hope that Seth hears us though I’d rather read that the Jordan was restored rather than look at a ruined lobby which resulted in a demolished theatre! Greenville PA is a small community, but it was a big loss when the Jordan was taken from them.
According to Cinema Tour the Elmira Theatre architect was Michael J. Deangelis and the address was 111 College. The Elmira was remodeled around 1953 to accommodate a CinemaScope screen and new seats. If the Clemens was also known as the Elmira and the Keeney’s, then I wonder why it gives different addresses? I would love to see an exterior photo of the Clemens Center.
And Tim does post on the above obervertoday.com site though I haven’t found any posts, yet, by him mentioning local theatres and drive-ins. In fact, someone in the area is trying to promote interest in restoring a drive-in on Route 5…can’t recall the name at the moment.
Paul: That is really strange as I do recall seeing photos of the Regent and thought they were on the ‘dhsclassof70’ site. I will take you up on stopping by Matt’s News. Is the CD about Dunkirk, in general and perhaps shows local theatres? I’d only be interested if the main topic was theatres though.
Thanks for locating and posting this very sad photo of the Capitol demolition and marquee sadly laying on the ground. Now if you could locate for me the photo(s) of the former Regent I would appreciate.
So did the church in Greenville build an addition on the former Jordan Theatre land or is that land now just another unused parking lot? If it’s another unused parking lot, I hang my head in shame for the people of Greenville which includes those members of that church.
Well, it’s 2005 now and the Jordan is long gone, but it is sad to think that a church organiziation would allow this theatre to be lost forever! Another example is another former Blatt Brothers theatre in another PA town, North East PA along the shores of Lake Erie near Erie PA. The local Baptist church built an addition and guess what land they used?

Lost Memory: Thanks as I know I can always count on you for a theatre answer or photo. Happy Holidays!
Is this theatre still operating as a theatre in Conover NC?
Does anyone have a recent theatre news out of Concord NC?
Interesting bit of theatre history in western NC!
A theatre with much infamous Oswald history!
Warren: Great 1958 photo and seen from a different angle of a famous landmark.

I just viewed an artist rendering of the Clemens Center and it can’t be what was called the Elmira Theatre at 111 College.

If you go to View link you can post your comments as I just did concerning theatre information/memories.
Thanks Paul as I await an email from Tim in regards to his site and former theatres in the Dunkirk area.

Paul: I’ve contacted Tim and the dhsclassof70 site should have a section marked Theatre Memories so they are all together on one page.

Lost Memory: Your Aug. 19, 05 posted photo doesn’t seem to show the theatre now.

Sorry to read that the Paramount is now another parking lot. Have a great 2007, Captain.
I just noticed it was you, Chuck? Hi and Aloha!
I’m confused is there a library or parking lot where the Eberson Paramount once stood?
Any photos anyone?
Yes, kleenex is most needed!
