I agree that the original Cameo was one of the great places to watch a movie. That theater had a large single screen in the classic style with the giant burgundy curtains, a stage going across the front of the screen for Saturday morning announcements during kid shows, and a clock on the right front wall. It was a single screen theater until the late 70s because I remember watching the movie Rocky from the balcony (still the best place I have ever watched a movie).
The snack bar sold the usual hot dogs and popcorn but also had big jar of pickles and a frozen candy bar called a Mike Shake.
I also seem to remember that in the late 50s Mr. Florence put trampolines in the parking lot when that was the craze. I don’t remember that lasting very long, though. And I remember the pool hall was across the street.
But I agree, what a grand, beautiful place to watch a movie. Great memories. Thanks WP Florence and RIP.
