I remember going to the piedmont drive in theater, listening for clues on lindbergh drive for the $50,000 key then they tore down the drive in to build an arlan’s store the when it closed up it then became the Atlanta Flea Market and a Marta Rail Station.
i went to the drive several times, and of course the flea market on Sunday mornings, I am sorry that I missed the grand closing of this drive in, I heard that it was fantastic.
I enjoyed the movies, I really loved the flea market on Sundays, I am really sorry to have missed the grand closing. I will always remember the memories of this drive in theater……
I remember the old Bankhead Drive In back in the late 1940’s the admission at that time was 60 cents per car, my cousin would pack the car with kids even in the trunk. Those were the days, I am sorry to say gone forever.
I remember the Empire Theater well, I remember the ticket prices
were fifteen cents or a dime if you used a capitola flour token,
popcorn was a nickel those were the days my mother took me to the Empire theater back in 1945 or 1946.
The Paramount Theater I remember it well, back in 1959 My mother, father, brother, and myself went to the paramount to see another Vincent Price movie" House On Haunted Hill" It would be the last time that all four of us would attend a movie.
I lived in Dunedin in 1956 & 1957. If I can remember well, the First National Bank of Dunedin stood where the Chamber of Commerce stands now. My Brother and I went to the Palms theater for a Halloween show in 1956 we both really enjoyed it.
my brother Gary and I went on Halloween night (1957) for a stage show but we don’t remember what the name of the movie was, then went home on Douglas Ave. we’re getting ready for a memory trip to Dunedin.
back in 1957 we had an ad at this drive in for the KINGBURGER on piedmont road, when piedmont road was widened from 2 lane to 4 lane we were out of business sorry to say so was the piedmont drive in.

I am truly sorry that the Palms Theater, the Poinnsetta Restaurant and Jacks Sundries from 1956 & 1957 are long gone I enjoyed them all.
All this talk about this theater, Bestoink Dooley, is making me long for the good old days that much more.
