After a renovation, this house re-opened as a performing venue under the name The Aquarius Theatre in either 1969 or 1970. Sammy davis was the first show under that name.
I don’t know about a theatre on that corner but I do know that it was a branch of The Boston Five Savings Bank. The name is still in the sidewalk and the vault is prominent in the bookstore.
I remember seeing The Day The Fish Came Out at this theatre.

I remember seeing Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis movies there in the 50’s

Sadly, due to neglect the roof caved in a few years ago, and vast amounts of water damge ruined the interior.
This was also called The Back Bay Screening Room. I saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show here before it became a cult hit.
