The Roxy for most of its life was the flagship theatre for 20th-Century=Fox.It was the second highest grossing theatre in the world only after Radio City Music Hall.In 1953 it held the highest grossing single week with “The Robe” $264,000 without a supporting stage show. By 1960 there wasn’t room for both Radio City and the Roxy with there stage and film policy due to lack of quality film product. Air Rights and development and the Rockefellers helped eliminate the Roxy. The Roxy was very successful for most of its life with its association with Fox as the Capitol was successful due to M-G-M. We will never see there likes ever again.

I am thrilled the Paramount wii be restored to a 3500 seat venue with a quality 50 Million Dollar restoration. Brooklyn is the comeback kid. The Paramount and the Kings are among the nations most beautiful theatres. The Paramount has one the worlds great organs and the restored theatre will compliment this treasure. Downtown Brooklyn will have two restored former movie palaces the Paramount and the former loew’s Metropolitan now a church. I love the fact that the Paramount wii restore the vertical and canopy Marquee’s which many restored theatres have failed to do which makes the restoration complete. Wow I’m impressed. brucec

The most beautiful Theatre in New York City. The former Loew’s – MGM theatre is reborn. Wish they would have left Loew’s on the marquee as part of its historical past and restored the Vertical which was done on the other Ace theatre, the Saenger in New Orleans.
