The Chinese art deco styled console was the only one of its kind ever produced by the Wurlitzer factory. In the theatre, its finish was originally a subtle gold-colored gesso “finger paint” design. It was refinished in an ivory with gold leaf accents for its installation in the residence. The original “Howard seat” shown here (instead of a traditional bench) was originally from the Salem, MA Paramount theatre’s Wurlitzer.
John DeMello and I at the Robert Morton theatre pipe organ. Photo was taken in 1978.
The nucleus of my second pipe organ was the Kimball from the Olympic Theatre.
I watched this theatre as it was demolished during the summer of 1969. I worked at Harta Studios which was acress the street at 907 Pacifuc Avenue.
