I remember going to this theatre when it was the International 70 movie theatre and seeing “Hello, Dolly!” and “The Shoes of the Fisherman” and being overwhelmed by the enormous size of the movie screen. When this theatre was torn down (along with most of the other theatres in Cincinnati), I felt a tremendous amount of sadness.
I do know that “THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW” actually premieres at the Alpha Fine Arts Cinema in Northside. It played for one week and then went on to become the midnight favorite that everyone loves.
I went to these theatres one time to see “Nashville”. The whole experience reminded me of watching a movie in someone’s basement. The theatres were very tunnelish and the screens went from wall to wall. I am glad I saw the film, but wish I had seen it in a better environment.
