The last movie to show @ the Vogue was Fever Pitch, so it closed just recently.
Also, the entire front wall needs to be rebuilt according to a Manistee building inspector. The problemm is much worse than a little falling stucco. A lot of people have been calling about buying the property. Most want to convert it into something else.
$270,000 only seems like a steal because it doesn’t take into account the tens of thousands of dollars it will cost to restore it to safe working order. Not to mention all the cosmetic work the building needs inside and out.
I wonder if there is anything that the city can do to keep it from being sold to someone who would just tear it down? I have even heard that that single building was a big part of the reason that the city of Manistee was granted some special “historical city” status.
It would be such a shame to see it suffer more abuse than it already has, apparently the last renters ran it into the ground.
Anyway, sort of a sad day for anyone who loves architecture or cinema.
