My Great-Grandfather George Woods managed the Pavilion Cinema from the late 40’s to early 50’s. He is pictured here with his wife Dolly. His niece Chrissie often visited from Liverpool and would help them to clean the cinema. His daughter, Sheila remembers ‘The chairs in the cinema were red velvet, there was an upstairs and spider man was painted on the walls (it might have been superman). There was a children’s matinee on a Saturday afternoon I think. I don’t know how much the tickets were because we never had to pay. There was an usherette called Mrs James’.
