Black college students are guided into Nashville police wagons in front of the Tennessee Theater after they allegedly blocked a fire exit and refused to move when ordered to do so by a city fire inspector Feb. 20, 1961. Twenty-eight demonstrators were arrested and charged with violating a section of the city code relating to fire exits.
