I enjoyed this theater and first saw “King of Hearts”, 3 nights running, when it premiered in Hartford in the late 60’s. “KoH” is one of my all time favorites.
The El Cortez Theater has been reopened (Feb. 2007) by its new owners Mark & Mary Giardetti. The 126 seat house has undergone significant renovations to the sound system and further improvements are planned in an ongoing effort to provide Sierra County with a much needed entertainment outlet for families. The theater plans to show New Releases of films PG13 and below. El Cortez is the only commercial screen within a 75 mile radius and its return (after 4 years} has been well received by the local community. Currently Friday and Saturday evenings and Sat. Matinees are scheduled.
Starting today a Sunday evening show time has been added to accommodate the community.
