Ken – the theatre at Ventnor Plaza was called “The Ventnor Plaza Twin.” I lived a few blocks away, and saw a lot of movies there. Last time I was there, it was a video rental store about to close.
The theater did not originally have a balcony – I worked there in 1986-89, when it was the home of the Florida Repertory Company. It was gutted around 1996 when the Burt Reynolds Institute for Theatre Training took it over.
There is an error in this listing: currently, the Miracle theatre does NOT have a movie screen, as it is not currently a movie theatre. It WAS a single screen when it opened, then split into two theatres side-by side, and the split again to create two small screening rooms in the balcony.
The architect of the renovation is John Fullerton of Fullerton, Diaz and Associates.
Much of the original architecture remains, including the marquee and ticket kiosk, lobby, and auditorium.
